I like scripts that make backups before you make changes, plus if your doing things yourself, screen record it, so you can play it back, If you make a mistake 👍🏻

Another way of sealing Windows off without changing Windows functions would be Glasswire which can interdict undesired communication at the network level. Unless there are pre-built filter packs, it would require quite a bit of research and faffing around.

I have multiple computers. I run Mac and Windows machines in some Lenox machines. I never put a new operating system on any of my machines. They all tend to screw up. I always ghost hard drives on all my computers. They're all solid-state drives. High-speed ports allow me to ghosts all drives quickly. Before I put a new operating system on or update Windows or any other operating system. I ghost the drive on a remote 1 TB drive. Then proceed installing the new operating system. If the update goes south or the operating system screws up. I simply pop the case open take out the hard drive. Slide the ghost drive in with the old operating system. Boot the computer and back to business. On Mac is slightly different but technically the same thing.
