THE EDEN PLANET: An unspoiled world of natural beauty, with miles of green grass and blue skies, which crewmembers from the Destiny were able to visit for several weeks – and that may point to the most powerful beings in the known universe.

Several months into their accidental mission on board Destiny, the reluctant crew of the Ancient deep-space vessel were relieved to find a planet rich with trees, water, and sunlight. Nicknamed “Eden” by those who visited, it seemed like an idyllic paradise – coming not a moment too soon for the men and women who had been living in the cramped, dark quarters of the Destiny ...

The Eden 'arc' was one of those really chilling ones that Destiny brought us. Really reminded you that the universe of SG is still filled with so much more unknown and powerful things.

One of SGU's strength is bringing back the unknown and discovery into Stargate. The idea of traveling to so many new planets outside the known planetery systems is really great. I think SGU had a similar vibe to early seasons of Lost, with the mysteries and danger. This Eden planet is a good example of it. The Destiny ship having a mind of his own and the crew being only here for the ride with little control over the journey was unique and compelling to follow. I'm really sad the show had to end this early.

This is one mystery that I really wished we could’ve gotten more answers on.

it's obvious the higher beings just wanted Destiny to take its rubbish/litter home with it, they don't want a hunk of junk and several human corpses littering their holiday home.

Universe definitely brought back a sense of mystery to the franchise, and a deep sense of alien-ness. Unlike Stargate Command and the Atlantis bases, Destiny was always on the move and turning back was rarely if ever an option, so long term investigation was never on the cards. When we met alien races they were distinctly differently from the ones prominent in SG-1 and Atlantis in the not only were they definitely alien looking, there was a major communication barrier, as the Ursini didn’t speak English and lacked translation devices, the Nakai had ulterior motives and the drones were just plain hostile with retreat always the only option.

I wished they could have met the aliens and they'd restored Destiny like they did the shuttle. She would have looked stunning after she was built and they'd have access to the whole ship, finding rooms and decks they couldn't visit before because of damage, power problems and no oxygen.

It was so sad when SGU didn't return after the timeframe set out in the last season finale, as that would have been some incredible ARG stuff.

eden looks some familiar for other shows haha. its one of the sites they always use, that idyllic lake and hills. BSG for starters.

I don't think that they didn't understand how to restore a human (they created a world and a star after all) I think it was more to give them closure to the colonists and those on Destiny. Given the vision that Tamara had, I think the creators of the planet were watching Destiny and following them.

I'm convinced those beings were some highly advanced ascended alien race. Look at the bright white light at the end of the kino footage.

The notion that they froze to death because the door couldn't be closed was unbelievably stupid. They were there for how long before winter and they never thought to winterize their shelter? They're in the woods, they received survival training by the military personnel before they were ordered to return to the Destiny, but none of them figured out a wooden frame and door placed over the shuttles hatchway could be constructed in a day with all their manpower. Hell with an added hooded smoke vent to an open fire pit they'd have been extremely comfortable.

This arc needed a follow-up....we have to meet those beings!

Kane came across as really naive to me. As he jumped to certain conclusions about was responsible for that planet without much evidence. Plus they were only there for about a month and had no idea how mild or severe other seasons would be. This was one of the interesting and a little disturbing mysteries in the show.

They've gotta continue SGU at some point, I feel like SG1 is definitely done and atlantis definitely has the potential for more but SGU was interrupted before they could really get anywhere

Eden to me was kinda reason it itself for Stargate franchise to exist. There were other cool stories too, but if it was only ever a buildup for Eden, I would've still been happy.
