This video contains three, quite literal, hidden animals. And a note regarding how fact and fiction merge in unsettling ways.

My motto with swimming has always been
1. Dont swim in the ocean
2. Dont swim in an inland body of water whose bottom you cannot see

I watched a documentary about the lad who was attacked by a possible big cat, the cat expert that the police consulted was quoted saying something to the effect of "he was very lucky his instinct was to scream and not to freeze or run as instead of triggering preditory instincts he identified himself as a threat or an competitor rather than a prey item" but you would need to look him up to get the exact quote

I am addicted to this episode. I listen to it maybe twice a month. This reminds me of an experience my uncle told me about. He said while diving and laying-net he saw a hole or underwater cave. The entrance to this underwater cave looked like a large version of what a small octopus 🐙 den or hole looks like. Meaning rocks stacked around the cave and discarded non-edibles near the entrance. He said the entrance was maybe the size of a crushed Volkswagen bug. He said it made the hair on his neck go chicken-skin and did not go into it. Creepy!

The blue hole / Lusca material could make an awesome horror movie. The Descent meets Open Water.

As a scuba diver who has dove a blue hole myself I want to mention something here. There is something to be aware of known as Delta P, which occurs when water moves from a high pressure space to a low pressure space. This sudden change in pressure causes a suction effect that cannot usually be seen as water rushes into the low pressure space and it can very easily drag anything in the water down with it with serious force. This is one of the leading causes of diver fatality's. I mention this because many of these blue holes formed as sinkholes where the earth collapsed into an underground cave or something similar. That means that the conditions for having caves/tunnels and them collapsing like that is already in place. If an underground cave were to collapse, water from the hole would rush in to fill it. Being in that water would create a serious risk of being suddenly pulled under by an invisible force, never to be seen again.

I used to swim the blue hole on Andros - i did hear that someone died there. No sign of any critters there, it was just a bottomless hole. Fresh water on top, gets brackish as you go down.

I have worked very closely with giant Pacific octopus for 12 years and I have raised them from babies to adults the largest being over a hundred pounds with a arm span of about 15 ft. As well as a variety of wild. Their knowledge is unmatched in the aquatic world. I believe you are on the right track but I would disagree with octopus and lean more towards squid as they are notoriously aggressive unlike octopi but share many characteristics. I have experienced their life cycles. I have seen male octopus lose their copulatory pad "sex organs" and regenerate them. I could continue with oddities I have experienced but I think you are on the right track and have done a good job with the video. keep up the good work and thank you

The mark on the kids face is a sure sign of a big cat batting someone with its claws retracting or retracted. Little cats do it all the time. When they see that the intended target is not what they thought it was or is unsuitable for whatever reason they will just strike out without their claws out. They don't want to hook on to anything at that point. Something has changed or gone awry and they just now want to get out of there. So they might still "attack" you so to speak but really its just a fake attack exit strategy. Probably used its body weight and momentum to knock the young lad one way whilst it sprang away in precisely the opposite direction.
As a young lad i had the honor and privilege of physically playing with 3 Lion cubs and a Black panther cub a few times. A friend of my Mothers owned and showed the big cats at a Circus before starting a Lion Safari Park. Amazing experiences at both as a kid!!. The cubs were so strong and when we were play fighting i would literally be scrapping a baby lion. Their roughhousing was very very very no claws. They had them and i saw them plenty but for me they were retracted every single time they belted me one. Same with teeth. I felt their teeth plenty but every single one was an inhibited bite. Just enough to let you know that you had been "tagged" really.
So i think he either got tagged by a playful big cat (All cats play sometimes) or the cat realized at the last minute that this wasn't the droid he was looking for...

That end part detailing the lusca gave me shivers. That's absolutely terrifying, mostly because the evidence is do convincing. I'm not swimming in those waters anytime soon, or any water for that matter.

I went swimming in a blue hole in Mexico when I was kid. It was great until I looked down with goggles. The deep was an open expanse of black, I got out and just watched the others swim. Subbed.

I rarely believe in land-based cryptids, especially in areas that are well-travelled. However, sea-going cryptids are far more likely to exist, as we are discovering new aquatic species constantly.

I've heard of some shipwrecked sailors staying afloat with the help of part of the wreck. All of a sudden, one of the men disappears into the depths. A giant octopus was the main suspect.

And may I say you are a master of presenting these topics and making them come to life. I will never go in any type of body of water unless its fully chlorinated to the point of lethal.

Just started watching this channel and it's fantastic! It's entertaining, thought provoking, and delivered without unnecessary flash or unreasonable speculation.

*Two items to introduce ...*
1) *In the early 80s, my Grandfather caught a 6 foot BullShark in the Port of Stockton, California.*
*I was with him and helped land the fish.*
*I suggested that we report this to Fish & Game ... He refused ... stating, "I just want to eat the shark. I enjoy shark. If we report this, we lose the shark to the government and the publicity might lose me my job and reputation. Then where will I be?*
*So I'm sure that many "cryptid" encounters go unreported for the same, or different, reasons.*
2) *I had an octopus in a very large tank at my home. We used to put small crabs and fish in various containers with different latches ... then time him to see how long it took him to figure out how to open the new latch.*
*The longest it took him was just over 27 minutes ... and it was a series of seven steps to unlock that latch.*
*Just thought you might find interest in these stories. Since they relate to the subject matter.*

Think about just how intelligent an octopus with so many years to wizen up.
