There's a common belief that learning to read is a natural process much like speaking a language. But did you know that's not the case? Reading is not a natural process, and students won't learn it simply by being around books.
With purposeful, intentional instruction, it's estimated that about 95% of all students have the cognitive capacity to learn how to read and read well.
