Telling Lies Gameplay | How It Works

I really wish this game featured a “skip to beginning of video” option. Having to hold down L2 or the thumb stick to the left on console just to rewind and watch a video that can last up to 5 minutes or more made this game unplayable for me. Played like 15 minutes and just ended up uninstalling which is a shame because I really enjoyed Her Story.

Edit: Found my time with Her Story overall more enjoyable. The smaller scope of Her Story and the focus being on one character kept me engaged while with Telling Lies, I couldn’t finish it… The story is too big and I just lost interest in it’s many characters, even if they were quite interesting (and this was with the trick some people have pointed out that allows you to skip to the beginning of videos on console).

So there's no real order in which to view the recordings in this game, it's basically all about discovery. Feel free to correct me because I'm pretty confused about how to sort out the order of all.

**** QUICK SKIP HACK FOUND FOR PS5/PS4

After a lot of frustation, I found it:

You hold L2/R2 to fast forward/rewind.
While holding it down, you press TRIANGLE.
You press TRIANGLE AGAIN to get our of the instructions and then...IT STARTS GOING BACK/FORTH at 10x SPEED!
Now watch it: DON'T PRESS X YET.
Move the opposite direction a bit like if you went back, then go forth.
And THERE YOU GO! It starts at the new point!!!

You need a how it works to play the game. If you dont know how to play, then it is not a game as it provide no fun to you. This is a flaw in the game.

Is there an easier way to skip to the beginning of a video (on consoles)? Im not really a fan of starting videos at the word, then finding out I missed half the video when the very next word I search is also in the same video just a minute earlier. Id rather just watch all videos from the beginning.

Also, how do you know if you are making progress, or at the end? It just seems like you are only making progress in your own head. The game doesnt do a good job explaining what your motivation is outside your own personal curiosity. There are no defined goals or objectives leading to those goals.

Watch the whole video and then you can start from the beginning
