The engine noise may not be precisely the way it was in some phases of flight. However, it's much preferred over a silent clip. Thanks for adding it.

If I'm not mistaken, this was the first airliner to make use of a turbofan engine, rather than the standard turbojet of the day. Very cool to see in action. What a great sound! A shame Convair threw in the towel after this; I'd like to see what they'd have in the air today if they had kept at it. These jetliners are certainly cool, but my favorite Convair plane will always and forever be the B-36 Peacemaker.

The 880 & 990 1st flights landed at North Island NAS without thrust reversers. They didn't have them yet. So the sound of the 990 spooling up to slow it down is fantasy. But it does sound like 990s sounded.

Not only a beauty, but also the fastest of all the pre-SST airliners...over 600mph! She only seated 5-abreast in the cabin, so her seat-mile costs were higher than the Douglas and Boeing rivals. Her engines were also real guzzlers. That hurt her...only 35 were built and sold, American being the only major US carrier to buy her. Thereafter, Convair ended its airliner business.

The aircraft sounds are realistic even though the original had no sound. However, toward the end is the sound of a 707 spooling up. That is not realistic since the location is North Island NAS where there were no big jets other than this lone 990.
