Thanks... I've only got a Minn Kota Trolling motor, plastic prop but I"m constantly on the oyster beds. Had some knicks and dents. Used the same method to smooth the edges and it at least feels way better. Can't believe how long I searched for information like this. Much appreciated.

Good video. Some old mechanic tips, never touch the file rough area with fingers, it corrodes. Don't let oil go in your file. Always use two hands when using a file. Don't store you file with wrenches in your toolbox they have oil and also the file can damage other tools.

What if the edge of the SS prop has a minor dent in it? Can that be repaired?

Good video and much appreciated.  For my aluminum prop that had dings and small bends in it I used a rubber mallet and old lumber I cut to match the shape.  Its not perfect buts its a lot better than what it was.  Hope that helps anyone who's had the same issue.

ha that's nothing compared to mine. the idiot that had it before me took large chunks out of the prop. I'm thinking it might have something to do with the the vibration and low speed

Can I use the same technique on an aluminum OEM Mercury prop? Or is this only for s.steel props? (I have the same files you’ve used). 🇨🇦👍🏼

once you use a file on a stainless prop, it becomes very difficult to tig weld it if it needs repairs.  the file leaves contamination on the stainless steel,  use sandpaper instead

Or just beat it in with a hammer haha. I would not do that with a big outboard prop buts that’s what we do with our mud motor props.

Nice way to contaminate your stainless propeller with those rusty files.
