After having my M3 for a bit, I figured it was time to give you guys some of my thoughts on the differences between it and the 335i.

I love your honesty regarding both cars and you can tell you're a fan of both cars. I respect that you explain the differences without bias.

I just purchased an E92 M3 today. Pick it up on Monday. Can not wait!

Thinking about a 335is instead of the M3... rod end bearings worry me... not looking for another V8 as I have a C63 AMG (M156) already. The 335is body style, performance, stock stance is perfect for daily drive. Love BMWs!

The 335i(n54) is basically a modern supra. Stock internals on the engine can push 600+ safely, easily modified, etc. You can get much more power and performance from a 335i with 2/3 of the price of the M3. But I still can't deny the M3 is a nice car. Its an icon. If you have the money, go for the M3.

Totally agree, owned a 335i n54 platform modded with exhaust en JB4, makes it a very fast car with a lot of torque. Bought a e92 m3 a month ago, and i think it's not as fast in a straight line, but the experience in the M is crazy, above 7000 the car sounds like it wants to kill you! Nice video!!

For a tuner the 335 is better. With the money you saved on a 335 instead of an m3, you can use it for some good mods and get a 335 performing better

335i can be made to go faster.... that's it... an m car is an m car... I own a 335i m sport.. but will be getting that v8 soon...don't get me wrong.. I love my car... but it is what it is....

The M3 is that all natural hot curvy chick, 335i got that plastic surgery and won't scream as loud

This is a video no one seems to take on. Thank you. I had a 335i with a stage 2 tune. It was fast but the hesitation from the turbos was very irritating even though it was only about a second long. The sport suspension was still like it was tuned to be a family friendly car more than a great handling car. That could have been changed but that would have cost a lot of cash that you can't get back on resale on those cars. I now drive the E46 M3 and it's like wearing a car. It's like it's part of me or an extension of me. It does what I know it can do when it's asked to. I do wish it had more power but the LSD rear end is just something I can't ever live without again. No going back LOL. I think I'll look into the E9X M3's next as I'm sure it will be the next step I'm looking for. There's nothing like power drifting your car and being completely in control of it all. The 335i had no LSD and that is a real draw back. Mind you the fuel is much better in the 335i.

Should have went into more detail in the interior differences. Even though the layout and design are identical the materials in the M3 are a lot better. The leather quality is way better and there is more usage of soft touch plastics vs the 3series

driven both, and bought an m3 e92 all day long!, coming from someone who drove tuned Nissan gtrs for over 10 years, DCT was something I had never used before, but when you hit that M button it goes like a stabbed rat!...just my opinion.

I love my 335I n54 E92...little by little, i been getting upgrades. It won't be like the M3 but i will get it as close as possible with the lower sticker price. great long distance and every day driver.

M3 is better if both cars are stock, without question. But, as much as I LOVE that V8, id take the N54. For $1500-$2000, the N54 can push 500hp easy. But thats just me!

Hey Brandon, M3 is all time favourite...is overtaking at 80 mile difficult? I think you can add the m performance parts to it and it will look awesome. What is Gas mileage? Awesome video 😀

In another 5 to 10 years people will pay BIG money for the E92 M3, particularly the manual versions and if left close to stock.

Its the very last of the naturally aspirated M Cars, the only V8 and a truly special engine, whereas the E92 335i's will all have been scrapped or modified to death.

my thoughts exactly. well said Brandon. There is nothing like it imho.

Most of the suspension bits bolt right onto the 1 series and 3 series RWD platform. The biggest difference is the e9x m3 rear subframe bushings. Gets rid of the loftiness of the rear end. The sway bars and control arms up front and in the rear also sharpen turn in. And v12 tires, imho, are so numb. Michelin pss are very nice. The LSD is fantastic is great as well! Congrats on your car and keep up the great work.

Reading through the comments made me laugh, theres no clear winner in this debate because it all come down to your pocket size and what you’re looking for from the car. For someone that wants a good plate form to build from that doesnt hurt your pockets get the n54 but if you have money and want to build an iconic car get a m3 to me they both have their place for different kind of consumers me personally ill get the n54 since parts for them is everywhere and here in cali u can find 1 for less then 10k and if u put another 5-10k into them now you have a good weapon. But you cant hate on the m3 just because you feel that its to expensive. M3 feels more premium because it is. Ask yourself what you want out of a car because both are great cars, and dont think all m3 owners is going keep their car stock. Different builds for different folks.

Pretty sure I'm trading in my Q50 red sport for one of these in the near future, I should've just got one in the first place it was the most fun of the cars I test drove.

as an owner of an e92 m3, I don't think you can call anything about this car "muscle", this is a high revving unit that produces only a little bit more torque than the new 2.0 turbos. If anything it feels special because it's reminiscent of a different era, the naturally aspirated era. This is what it feels like to have driven a supercar from the 90's, I've owned a mustang GT too and they are poles apart, the muscle car category is completely different, that's the instant break your neck torque segment. This? This is Jekyll and Hyde, 2 different cars in 2 different rev ranges, below 5K rpm and above 5K rpm.
