Before I start I just want to say that this isn’t a mindless hate comment but rather some genuine criticisms that I have of this video. I love this project and it’s great to see my home country getting some love but jesus it feels like this video was written by chatgpt. Like I understand that you’re not from here and probably know absolutely nothing about Australia but at least a little of your own research could have been done. Between the complete butchering of certain words, the sentences that stop and start very unnaturally, and the completely random facts thrown together haphazardly, it all feels very fake.

I’ll use the Gold Coast section as an example. He refers to the entire city as a “beachfront property” and uses about a million adjectives in just the first sentence. He calls it just “Gold Coast” (as opposed to “the Gold Coast” as it is normally called) and says Queensland in a strange way. He says “This really interesting thing is going on” and then describes the migration of humans around the pacific 50000 years ago. He points out that migrations were happening everywhere including Australia twice in like 2-3 sentences. This point then just finishes out of nowhere and doesn’t relate back to the Gold Coast at all. He calls the place Gold City for some reason, and states that the lifeguards that patrol the beaches are there to watch for the extremely problematic sharks in the ocean. Neither facts about the sharks or the lifeguards are true. He talks about Santa but again doesn’t relate this back to the Gold Coast at all (to be honest barely to Australia either). Why not mention how Santa is perceived very differently in Australia if you are going to bring him up? He then starts trashing on the place extremely uncharacteristically before immediately moving on. Literally none of this section made any sense, it’s like it was written by either a robot or a kid still in kindy, and every other section is about the same quality.

You can do better dude. Don’t make a script about a topic you don’t know overnight. Or at least write the script yourself instead of getting an ai to do it and throwing in a couple swears to keep it interesting. If you were having trouble finding things to mention then why not ask the guys in Team Oceania for cool facts about the places they probably live in? It’s all just a bit disappointing.
