Love my JMP-1, I'm in the UK so the mods were always out of the question. I run mine into the fx return of a Marshall Artist 4203 and midi it up to the snapshots of my HxFx, it sounds awesome.

Lincoln Brewster used a JMP-1 into a Plexi power section during his tour with Steve Perry, with the help of Dave Friedman. An incredible tone.

Awesome tones!! Man, I love my JMP-1! I drift in/out of different amp rigs over time…..but always seem to come back to a tube preamp, power amp, and fx unit for the simplicity. I used an ADA MP-1 with a Quadraverb or Yamaha SPX fx processor and various amps through the late ‘80’s and most of the ‘90’s and was never longing for better tone. I picked up a JMP-1 about 15 yrs ago and it still finds its way back into my rig eventually. I wish Marshall would reissue it!!!! Maybe throw in some modern IR capabilities or power amp simulation like the Friedman stuff and new Soldano X88IR……they would sell like CRAZY!! 🤞

I want mod my Marshall JMP-1 pre amp and my Marshall Power amp … but I’m the voodoo mod website it says they aren’t taking any new modification orders in since 2022… are they now doing mods or are they still not taking orders for mods??

Love my unmodded JMP-1. It does not make much sense to me, to pay four times the price of the preamp for a mod, but of course it sounds good, no doubt.

But as a European such a mod even would be much more expensive due to import sales tax, customs duties and shipping costs, so nothing for me anyway. Much less, as a brand new JVM410H in Europe is even cheaper than this mod alone without additional costs and not included the price of the JMP-1 itself. In Europe I anway do not know anyone, who is offering something comparable.

To be honest, I do not hear any tones, which I do not also easily get out of my unmodded JMP-1. And if not, then at least with my personal much cheaper hot-rodding: My personal secret weapon in combination with the JMP-1 is a Kaluna II in the fx loop. Parallel it can improve a lot, as it offers additional top notch sound shaping, active, neutral -12dB/+12dB signal level adjustment, serial it offers additionally two more really good and neutral sounding tube gain stages, so I easily get even JVM/Engl/Diezel level high-gain sounds, which I can shape exactly to my needs, plus, this wonderful pedal works almost noiseless in comparison to a lot of others.

Apart from this the easiest "hotter sound mod" is an SD-1 in front or a Box of Rock, but this does not please my ears so much without intense Treble and Presence reduction.

In the JMP-1 I have vintage RFT tubes, in the Kaluna II a JJ ECC803S long plate. Harmonize well.

But the Silver Jubilee power amp certainly is a good choice, no doubt. The only question - for me - anyway is, does the final sound rock or does it not. This one certainly does.

I love that Marshall sound myself! By the way, I dont think Voodoo does mods anymore. I wish they did as I have heard they were the best in the business.
