I am stuck between this and the Marlin 8 Gen 3. I know they are two different categories, but I don't know which one to get. A lot of the riding I am doing now will be cityish, but in a few months most of it will be trail riding. I know this is more of a hybrid, I just don't think it will handle the trails I am thinking of.

I had to choose the DS3 GEN5 equipped over the normal DS3 GEN5 and they come with the Shimano CUES gears. Are they much inferior to the DEORE???

At store I spun the handle bars 360 deg. Maybe someone else spun it some more. The steering still feels ok what is happening to the cables, and how do you know? Will the cables fail? How to fix?

I hate the front axle assembly, recently I was returning from a 800klm road trip with the bike up on the Thule Upride and the entire front axle assembly fell out the fork, not happy.
