So there, are two conflicting origins of this song

One says, it was written during the Impression of Fiume, When D'Annunzio occupied Fiume and create the Free State of Fiume, either during 1918 or 1919. Another says it was written in the 1800s by the Dalmatian Volunteers during the Italian War of Independence. Italian speakers might be able to shed light on its origins, this is what I found in my research.

This particular song comes from the album " Le canzoni della Repubblica Sociale Italiana " so we can assume it was sung during the existence of the RSI. There are also two different versions of the song, one I found on a blog about RSI songs, which had the Croat part, and another that had it as "codardo"

O bella Dalmazia, mio suolo natio

It could be both, it could be one or the other, I'm not an Italian speaker, so I based it off the RSI blog's lyrics

Lyrics:

O bella Dalmazia,
ricevi un addio

ricevi un addio
dai Legionar.

Si, si la bella Patria,
Dalmazia si chiama,

la nostra promessa:
"si vincerà o si muor".

Si, si, silenzio

questa è la voce,
questa è la voce

ci chiama la nostra bandiera.

Lo giuriamo sull'onore dei dalmati
che fra noi non esisterà un croato,

noi giuriam sulla nostra bandiera:
Legionari siam pronti alla guerra.

Si, lo giuriam!

How... ironic
considering that the fascists (and the RSI) is the main reason Italy lost Dalmatia

Intriguing song... given its uncertain origin history. That said, this song appeared during one of Europe's most tumultuous periods (collapse of Eastern Roman Empire through World War I"). Perhaps an email to an Italian history expert would yield its true origin.

Mario Roatto a fascist Italian during WW2 genocided fellow Roman Catholic Croats in Death Camps in the island of Rab...It is also known of them having alliance with Orthodox Christian Serb Chetniks ....So what is Roman Catholicism? Another disguise for Italian nationalism?

Welp it seems like that the Italians indeed were cowards, so much for their "native soil"

The only reason there are Slavs in Dalmatia and Istria is because they ran away from the Ottomens with their tails between their legs and they found refuge on historical italic land occupied by the Christian Republic of Venice and before that mostly by Romans and Byzantines (in Dalkmatia) who considered themselves Romans although the population was mixed latin, greek, armenian etc.
