“Some Places Will See A Month's Worth Of Rain” | Storm Bert To Bring Weather And Travel Disruption

The UK's second named storm of the season, Storm Bert, is set to bring snow, rain, and strong winds this weekend.

The Met Office has issued warnings for gusts up to 70mph in some areas. Heavy snowfall could cause disruption, especially in northern parts, while heavy rain is expected in western regions.

In London, forecasters predict rain and winds up to 50mph, with temperatures rising to 15°C after this week’s freezing conditions.

An amber warning for heavy snow and ice will be in place on Saturday from 7am to 5pm for areas north of Scotland’s central belt. Snowfall of 10-20cm is likely above 200 meters, with up to 40cm possible on higher hills. The warning includes parts of Angus, Perth and Kinross, Stirlingshire, Aberdeenshire, the Highlands, and Argyll and Bute.

Jesus Christ, at age 10 I used to walk in 3 foot of snow to school in the 70's, we even took extra clothes as we'd be soaked through and had to put our gear on the effective ancient radiators, when they worked that is, if it was so cold that the pipes froze we got sent home, flooding was the norm and kids used to play in the puddles by the blocked drains. My dad opened the front door to go to work one day and we had to dig ourselves out the house. It was so clod in our houses that the frost used to be on the INSIDE of the windows. The snow we see these days is just a flurry compared to what we had. What you don't see these days is the drains being cleared of leaves in Autumn or basically any other time of year, the drains never get cleaned or updated. I just shake my head at all the doomsayers about the weather, climate change and all that bollocks, as far as I'm concerned these mild winters are great.

I remember the early eighties when I had to walk to school with snow up to my knees for weeks, The water pipes in our house froze and my dad had to unfreeze them with hot water bottles, We didn’t have central heating, There was ice on the windows every morning because we didn’t have double glazed windows either, My Nan was still alive then and just had one open fire in her house, She was in her 70’s, I think we all need to stop being hysterical about a bit of snow and rain

If CO2 Has made it hotter where does its effect disappear to when suddenly your claiming hurricanes and winds and cold arrives.

You need cold and heat to generate wind....hot weather stops wind...hot air goes up gently...thats why theres little wind in hot countries.
But hang on...co2 makes it hot...accd to greta and cc scientists. So why is it cold....and windy.
There is no proven link between co2 and climate changeing events.none.
Every believer just jumps on a bandwagon and starrs beating a drum of panic!!!!

I'm in Cornwall, we usually get the storms first but, to be honest yes', it's blowing a gale and it's raining but, nothing like the hype being made by media..No need to stock pile, it's normal winter weather🥰
