Two of a Kind! Oliver & Cockshutt Tractors You May Never Have Seen Before!

If you've never heard of the Oliver 1250, you are not alone! In the mid-1960's, this high crop tractor was built by Fiat for Oliver, mainly for use in vegetable farming. Fiat also built a 1250, the same tractor, that was painted and badged as a Cockshutt. John Zakovec of Nebraska loved collecting rare and unusual tractors -- and these two fit right in. Enjoy!

Beautiful tractors. Amazing luck on being able to save something from the scrap yard.

Mr. John Zakovec sure does have a pair of beauties there, I can see what he's saying about what more could a man want. Thanks

I encountered one of these Fiat-Olivers in Bossier Parish, Louisiana in 1997. The guy wanted $1200.

Importing Fiat tractors to North America started with Cockshutt and that is what White kept from Cockshutt including the combine line

"Only 3 Cockshutt 1250 tractors are known to exist today". No. There are probably well over a thousand of 1250's of all other chassis styles still in existance, but only 3 Cockshutt 1250 hi-crops sounds reasonable.

The unusual sound of a 1250 Diesel is due to its extremely high 21.5 to 1 compression ratio. Almost all other diesels operate at about 15 to 1.

Oliver didnt buy Cockshutt, White Motor Company bought them. Cockshutt and Moline went the way of the DoeDoe bird. White screwed all three companies trying to keep their truck division afloat…….
