I've been using tap tempo and timed delay pedals for thirteen years and never once thought about using the 4:3 trick. That's so simple I can't believe it. Thank you!

If anyone's interested in hearing an album that is basically built around this technique, Angels And Airwaves' "We Don't Need to Whisper" basically uses it on 90% of the tracks. The music might not be to everyone's taste but they do use the 8th note delay in very interesting ways !

The Beatles “We can Work it out” is a great example of going from quarter to dotted eight notes. At least that’s how I think of it. When it gets to that “so I will ask you once again” part, Ringo goes to a beat that’s 3/4ths of the regular beat of the song. So when thinking about how to tap in dotted eighth notes based on the quarter note, I just play a version of ‘We can Work it out’ in my head that’s in beat with the song I’m playing and then I jump into the “ask you once again” part to get the dotted eighth note tapped in properly.

That's the CLEAREST explanation of the maths behind that sound made famous by the Edge. Thank you! NOW I get it!

That's the best way to practice keeping the tempo. Even small tempo mistakes destroy that magic sound.

Angels and Airwaves was really where I fell in love with this type of delay

That shot in the beginning with Mary Spender was great cinematography in my opinion.

5 years ago Paul gave me privatelessons here in the Netherlands. He was kind and very good in his job. That was the way to become one of the world's greatest guitar teachers.

Go Paul go. I will follow you. And promised: I will never put strings on a guitar like I did :)

After subscribing yesterday I spent almost 8 hours watching most of  your videos, I have only been playing for about 6 months and I have to tell you, you are far better then any instructor, I have  learned more in those 8 hours of videos then I have in the last 6 months.  Thank you for your time sir.

Bach! Cello Suite! Sounded amazing using the delay. Cathedral, Surr Moon, Flight of the Wounded Bumble Bee, Street Have No name all are great for this trick but I did not expect to hear Bach. Molto Bene!

Reason for subscribing - 9:52 "Thank you for watching and have a great day." Not one word of pimping his own channel, he's out to recess cause that's class ladies and gentlemen.

3:39 Before you even said anything I was getting ready for "daddy's flown across the ocean"! A really cool trick.
