As an ex-pat whose Dutch MIL lived for many years in Indonesia, chicken saté (kip satay) is not only a staple for our own “Indonesian Rice Table, ” but it is on nearly every menu on the Dutch Caribbean island of Bonaire. Ketjap manis (sweet soy sauce) can be found in nearly every oriental food store. Here and in Indonesia, we use sambal oelek for the chili paste/sauce. Often, the oelek is hot enough by itself such that additional peppers are not required. Sambal oelek, again, available in oriental food stores, is often found shelved with sriracha sauces in “regular” grocery stores these days. Online Dutch food markets will be another good source for these two items. Eet smakelijk!

Really like your version. Very easy and simple. Made this last night, but was lazy and didn't do skewers. Broiled marinated chicken thighs, then sliced in strips and placed on plate. So good. Thanks for the recipe and instructions.

LOVE peanut sauce with anything as well, like noodles.

Gonna make in air fryer…
I’ve fallen in love with mine. At first I thought it was just another gimmick until I watched a couple of videos.
I’ve made everything from steak to French fries to cake to pizza. It’s great for heating stuff too.
Can’t wait to try this!
Thx!

Hi Chef Billy, first time on your channel. There’s a lot of great content out there but one thing that really makes you stand out in my opinion. You give suggestions on ingredients if one can’t find what you’re using. A lot of the other channels don’t do that. I look forward to watching more. Thank you and happy new year

Wow! Indonesian style of satay looks yummy. I need to try. Thank you for sharing. In Thailand, we serve satay with toast too. Personally I love to dip satay with a vinegar sauce and dip toast with a peanut sauce.

My favorite ingredient, sweet soy sauce, is something everyone needs. If you don't have an Asian Market near you, get it on Amazon. You'll find yourself putting it on everything. Love this Satay, Chef! (Congrats on 300k!).

I love you Billy, but I'm sorry, I am Indonesian.
We make SAMBAL KACANG ( Peanut Dressing/Sauce) from Grilled Peanut and Sweet soy sauce/ Palm Sugar for sweetness.
And sorry Thailand, but I prefer my Indonesia Style Peanut Sauce.

Looks amazing. I might want some chili in the peanut sauce as well. 😅
