Religion is as natural to humans as breathing air, having sex, and having mental breakdowns in public bathrooms. Yet, we may often assume that the reason why humans are religious is because of our minds but I actually think it’s because of our bodies.

Thinking heavily now about the vagus nerve!!!! It gets activated when you exhale, and deep breaths tell the vagus nerve to slow your pulse. Choirs that sing together are often taking coordinated breaths, which means that their heartbeats will inevitably sync up. I’m wondering what the implication then is on like, ecstatic worship experiences centered around singing in groups. Huh.

Religion exists because humans have to try to explain the unexplainable. They are dependent on the sky. The sun and the rain. They look to the sky for answers. They create their own. This is called religion.

I'm so glad I found your channel. Yet another thing to thank Damon Garcia for, and now I have another great Christian channel to enjoy. ^>^
