As much as I assure anyone I’m not a fan I will say curtsy requirements change depending on the circumstance.
The brown ensemble was worn at Christmas, and she and Catherine both made a brief, perfunctory curtsy as the queen walked past.
The deep reverential curtsy in black was at the queen’s funeral.
Different functions altogether.
If the camera is pulled back you’ll see MM’s curtsy is mostly in line with the other women in attendance, including Catherine. As you can see she’s standing next to Camilla and in time with her curtsy.
She sucks, she’s a manipulative doofus, but this isn’t the bone to pick.

Seems like she’s been studying the videos of Diana’s Curtsy that came out after she mocked the late queen pretending she didn’t know how to curtsy. Given her love of princesses when she was a kid and not living in a bubble you bet she knew how to curtsy.

The 2017 one was fine, but I respect the 2022 curtsy. She did a full slow deep curtsy and had a solemn look on her face as she did it. I’d respect her a lot more if she was willing to put aside her pride like that more often.

The second one is where she's well aware of her fabrication on Netflix. When you meet the Queen, or any Royal, you are schooled in how to act. The Queen did not like showy curtsies. No more than a bob was required or a nod of the head. If you did not wish to curtsey or bow, that was fine too. You must address her properly, Your Majesty the first time then ma'am, pronounced like jam.
When due to meet Princess Anne at my work, I joked 'so I say ma'am rhymes with jam?' I was given the day off 🤭
You must not speak to her unless she speaks to you first and you must NEVER touch her unless she offers to shake your hand and then it is fingers only.😊
