1:05 By 2 Reapers actually. The Crash Zone has 10 Reapers, the Dunes have 8, the Mountains have 7. Fun fact: Because Gun Island is in the Mountains biome the Reapers there are actually closer to each other compared to the Dunes.

During Beta the Crash Zone had 12 Reapers at one point (with one being close to Lifepod 4, guarding the Port section of the ship, and one at the southernmost end and actually spawning outside the map in the void but then patrolling into the map) but these 2 have been removed.

I never understood why people consider the Dunes to be more dangerous than the Mountains. The Mountains not only has a higher Reaper density (even though the total number is 1 less), it also has a higher Warper density and is the only biome in the game where you can encounter something that is only a nuisance elsewhere but can become quite dangerous here: Biters. And while a single Biter is not really a threat - swarms are, and that's what can happen to you in the Mountains. My worst encounter with a biter swarm here was 14 individuals attacking me all at once and I almost died despite wearing the reinforced suit and starting at 100 health.

10:04 That Warper is really annoying and can actually be a lot more dangerous than the Reaper - it has a habit of warping the player out of the wreck and I also have seen the Warper actually warping into the Wreck to the player on several occasions - and that is really dangerous because you can't really avoid it in there.

PS: The Mountains also holds one of the most interesting spots for a Reaper Observatory base because there's a location that has 3 Reaper patrol routes in sight of a single observatory.

I love building in The Dunes. I never understood why people ask me why would I do that. It's open, there's thermal vents for free power, decent resources, it's near the sea treaders path, wrecks with good stuff, and there's an easy entrance to The Lost River nearby. Only thing you need to be mindful off is the reapers. Easily my favorite biome. Thanks for the video!

So... I put my big girl panties on and went in search of the cuddlefish egg. Seamoth hugging the ground like a babe at the teat. Lights off. No reaper got a sniff of me, but a damn warper yeeted me to oblivion. Couldn't find my seamoth cos, ya know, the lights were off. Had to defend my virtue by knifing the amorous warper. When I got to the 'moth I panic-pressed every button on my keyboard trying to get in. Still got the egg. Hands have not stopped shaking. 10/10 experience, highly recommend 😂

I accidentally built my first base in The Dunes. Then I was hanging out in my front yard and noticed my new neighbor. I turned around, and saw my other new neighbor.

Can we all just agree that this game is one of the greatest gaming experiences ever. When I was young playing ps1 I was always wishing there was a deep sea adventure out there. Wish granted and then some!

I love how even he sounds nervous and resolute going into this instead of an energetic guide. It's like a safety video for someone working a dangerous job lol. I'm gonna be shaking in my boots but seeing someone actually explore it makes me more confident

The timing for this is so good. I just beat Subnautica for the first time last week and am restarting so I can explore the places I was scared to go. If the computer voice thought something was a bad idea I did not go farther. This looks like a fun area to explore now.

The Dunes has been the one place I actively fear going to still after years of playing this game. Thank you

I appreciate how you avoid spoiling the adventure of exploring by not showing everything in each wreck. Beat this game years ago, but I still jump back in occasionally to explore and build. Great game.

I use my cyclops in the Dunes and pretty much everywhere else, people don't seem to realize that if a Leviathan aggros to your cyclops you just turn off the engine and they get bored and leave you alone. The main reason people don't go into the Dunes is because the wrecks are completely pointless, you can get everything in them in much safer areas. There is one unique databank entry in the one that's relatively safe from Reapers the other 2 more dangerous ones are superfluous, the cuddlefish egg is completely safe from Reapers and the alien cache might sound close to a reaper but you can just park your cyclops in the crater below the cache entrance and either prawn suit the rest of the way or seaglide.

This is also great for people that will never explore the Dunes, like me

I actually never knew the Dunes were *this dangerous, * it was always one of the places I genuinely enjoyed exploring the most

2:44 Take the sonar and 1 inventory slot. You can spot the wrecks further away. Storage space is not an issue since all you'll find are blueprints, cosmetic items and common ore. Save your inventory slots for the mining suit.

Holy shit, I ended up exploring the 3 wreck and I didn't know that this area was the dunes because I didn't find anything dangerous

Thing about staying close to the ground, there's a very real possibility that, due to the jankiness of this game's code, a Reaper may pop out of the ground and attack you.

If they grab you, you pretty much need to be lightning fast and trigger the Perimeter Defense or your Seamoth might get destroyed instantly as the Reaper slams it into the ground.

This actually happened to Markiplier in his playthrough, he was traveling at night and there was a sudden camera shift, only for his Seamoth (RIP Bubblebutt) to get instantly vaporized and for the *briefest* second, you can see a Reaper swimming away just out of his field of view.

Turns out, that Reaper had grabbed him and smashed his Seamoth into the ground. There was no warning, almost no time to react and the Reaper didn't even roar to signal its attack.

And Mark was left alone in the inky blackness.

oh God, turns out I was in Dunes yesterday without knowing it, because that one wreck looks familiar. Had a reaper chase me a good part of my way back. xD Great video!
