Talk about the catch of a lifetime for one Texas city fisherman when he reeled in a very rare 1,000-pound shark 40 miles off the coast of Galveston.

I'm an avid fisherman have been all my life this kinda of fishing should be outlawed this is why we dont have as many large sharks anymore so yes this is probably why it took so long to catch one this size .I remember when I was a kid before they outlawed netting along the beach I remember seeing guys lay out nets on the beach and when they would bring them in you could have fed a thousand people or more glad they outlawed it we barely have any chance anymore to see the numbers of fish anymore like they use to be and their are many contributing factors man being the obvious one and with warming of the climate affecting flounder fishing it wont be long there wont be anything left worth going out to fish

*20+ year old sharks life was ended in an hour of suffering and struggling.*

Unless you're going to eat that shark I see absolutely no reason to take a shark like that.

The bigger the shark the older it is, imagine how long it lived there.

Great catch. It would have been better to catch and release.

I am a fisherman and a hunter. Sometimes I target sharks but I always let them go. I love them. Beautiful animals. Simplistic. Swim, eat, and make baby sharks. I hate trophy fishing and hunting. A-holes.

In the sharks defense, she was probably sick, a 20 minute struggle? That shark would ate that boat and them..

I hope they eat it, it be a waste if it’s for sport, just eat the whole thing and keep the jaw

I guess the 1000 pound tiger shark deserved to die because it was living in our ocean or was it all just for a photo opportunity.

That big shark was out too late and cruising for shark babes. Last thing that he was thinking about was the one he met down in Florida. She got prego and he left her. Started hanging around Galveston/TC and that's the last thing as he was chumming on some chum and chomped on a metal barb. Bad cruise night for him.

Bro ppl fish for a living to eat in areas of the world and here we fish for fun and kill the animal’s for fun and sport. There should be a respect for all forms of life. This break my heart to see that animal hung up like that.

He caught a "very rare" shark.
We need all sharks, especially tiger sharks as they clean up the dead carcasses from the ocean. Sharks are not mindless killers, they are so misunderstood.
Killing an animal, whether in the ocean or on land, is nothing to be proud of, or to brag about.
