To the people who are going to make first game, just make it bad just like Thomas said. I literally built the worst quiz game on itch io, but I learned so many stuff.

Congrats on 10 years Thomas! And I 100% agree on these tips. Game dev is a journey, not a sprint, and there are SO MANY moving parts.

Marketing before starting a game is correct, only if you have some exposure making small projects and an idea, because if you don't have the former, you will waste time learning the basics, and if you don't have an idea, you won't know who to target.

I honestly believe that i have a game idea that could not only become legendary big but it probably could change or add something completely new to the entire video games industry, but as a solo developer I really don’t know where to start or how to do it.

8:45 gameplay and sound are the two places to obsess about. and visuals simply need to serve the gameplay and the sound. if i was running a studio i would probably cover the wall with wallpaper that says: gameplay & sound gameplay & sound gameplay & sound over and over again. excellent sound can turn a mediocre game into a great game.

If there is anything I have learned after 20 YEARS of Game Dev is that Thomas Brush knows how to plan and market games. His Game Dev course is also an incredible value if you are looking for an all in one condensed package to launch yourself full-time.

Words to absolutely live by: Marketing is king.

I agree marketing is very important. but to make a game to market will destroy the artistic integrity of the game. you also talked about this with once upon a coma or neversong where you said you were actually looking to please publishers and were changing the game to do that. it might not have been neversong maybe it was the 3d game you were making before father.

People are like: A $150 course that takes a few weeks or months to complete? Nah. A random unusable $50, 000 college degree that takes 4 years to get? Hell yeah!

Thank You for the video to ne honest i am a bit concerned to ușe the art that i created based on the 2d course because IT might be the same as other people but i tought a bit and i can reuse some elements or even use the same but add a bit of extra flavour. Thank You so for inspiring me for some time and continiuning to inspire me. Hopefully one day i will make a game and manage to release IT :)

What I have learned from starting and running businesses is failure IS and option. It’s nice to say failure isn’t an option and ultimately no one wants to fail and you should PLAN to fail. But you should have a if I fail plan. Example would be if I fail I will learn from why and how and reflect and then move on and do better and eventually you will have failed and paid all the stupid tax and boom you’ll be good to go.

Sir, I am making a 2d top down space shooter. There is a problem in shooting system, that is, when enemy is shooting and I shoot, then the player's bullet is colliding with enemy bullet and the player's bullet is destroyed but the enemies bullet is not destroyed. Can you tell me what to do to make the both bullets passing away without any collision.
