Painting hair on a miniature can be a tricky. Learn how to use simple layering techniques to get a quality effect on a small scale.

*This has been highly edited for youtube, the original 17 minute video can be found on my patreon feed*

Painting hair on a mini is one of the rare things in miniature painting that is very hard to fake. Miniature painting generally has a lot of workarounds, 'cheats' or tricks to get the desired result while bypassing a lot of the hassle. But for hair, hacking your way to victory is more of a challenge. You really just have to put the work in. But it doesn't have to be hard work. You can still use simple painting techniques to reach your desired goal. I hope you find this miniature painting tutorial useful and it helps you to level up your hair painting skills.

Thank You. Another brilliant easy to follow video; that allows us mediocre painters, to gradually increase the skill level of certain painting styles, one at a time.
Your tutorials have helped me overcome the resistance to trying new techniques. After 35 years of just layer, wash and dry brush. I now use a wet palette and have started blending, glazing and stippling.
As such, I enjoy my hobby again! Keep up the great vids in 2022.

Ahh, the ✨Kujo Sparkle✨™. The best way to finish off gorgeous hair.

If you were going for a darker blue/black hair would you still suggest starting off with a warm base color?

very brilliant, this is a new way to paint some alternative hair's colours, expecially if you're doing an ultramodern/sci-fi figure (f.e. an Infinity's one). After all it's possible changing the colours to make a different shade.

Hair looks great, but what I'd really love to see is a tutorial on how you did that plaid skirt!

Looks amazing dude, saw the finished piece on PMP review...it takes alot to get high praise from Vince, but he had a hard time criticizing it. Lol, but she is beautiful her skin and hair, on top of the scene you create with the base A++

Beautiful results! Thank you for sharing the technique.
When you mention that we should make sure that each layer is dry before applying various glaze layers, how long do you typically wait before it's dry?

Beautiful stuff again Kujo! What size brush are you using here, and how big is the model roughly? I get the impression that you're using a fairly large brush for the hair here
