Self-lubricating filament

Iglidur I150 by IGUS is a self-lubricating material for 3D printing mechanical parts for sliding motion such as bushings, and they require no lubrication maintenance. I'm 3D printing an industrial piece here.

“Today we’re gonna test this material… by printing 14k worth of it!”

Other videos about this filament led me to believe it was near impossible to print with. Prints look nice!

I could think of some uh… innovative uses of “self lubricating” material 😏

😳Bro spent like 3 rolls of filament to make a HUGE plastic drill? 😳

Edit: read the reply to find out what’s this huge drill is for 😊 I learned something new!

last time someone on the internet described something as "self-lubricating" to me, it wasn't on the most pleasant terms.

Igus makes some legit stuff! They are expensive but my company buys all the hardware we use so I never worry about that lol

The Additive is called Slip and is usually dosed in at .25-1.75% to target a low to high slip range .018-.35 in virgin materials that are barefoot most resins have a natural amount and is added at the resin cracking stage to target the wanted slip levels

I'd suppose you can make the shell from the special material and the infill from regular pla or something else less costly. I think. I dunno how well the bambu deals with material use efficiency.

Btw you don’t need to do the flow checks everytime, i only do them if I change the filament I am using as the last used values are stored in the x1c. Same with the bed leveling I only do that every 5-10 prints or if I swap build plates. I think they say you only need to do it like every 20-30x or when you change build plates or move the printer but I feel safer at 5-10 :)

What will this print be used for that it needs self-lubricating material?
