What's the use of the coconut husk ontop of the plant pots? I can't find anything about it online but I see he's added it to the top of the pot ontop of the soil but I'm not sure why

I would also mention which ones are not suitable if u have pets - dogs and cats especially - as some plants are poisonous and therefore, not suitable.
