Centerpoint has been so petty that at this point I would sue for the half sandwich lost in the fridge.

Who do they think will pay for their settlement?

Good luck with the lawsuit. A significant part of the power outage was caused by fallen trees. I counted 6 large trees down within a block and a half of my house. Two fell across power lines and the linemen had to coordinate with the tree service to restore power. Are they going to add the homeowners of these trees as defendants? Maybe they should also sue the source of the hurricane.

What's important is the owners of Centerpoint are legally protected and continue to make profit.
It's the American way!

I wish I could join but I ended up going to my mom's who never lost power and taking all my food with me... I am still recovering from the aftermath of it all: having to work with no power while the storm was raging and relying on my hotspot until the cell towers gave out too, watching people using fallen trees for firewood since they couldn't use their electric appliances, hearing multiple generators going the first few nights until it got too expensive and we started giving up and leaving one by one, and being stuck in endless traffic even after a week because of traffic lights not working. This was up there with Ike and the winter freeze, so both ERCOT and Centerpointless need to be investigated.

I wouldn't put it past Centerpoint asking for a rate hike in a month or two

Tornado = no power for weeks, Hurricane = no power for weeks, strong line of storms = no power for weeks, too cold = no power for weeks, too windy = no power for weeks, too hot too many people running AC = no power for weeks! Years and years bet they have no solution.
