Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl argues with a group of autograph seekers. Dave Grohl says he will no longer grant autograph requests unless it is for charitable events.

That’s annoying, I never sell my autographs. I keep them for the memories/ sentimental value. Only would be sold when I’m dead and gone.

Dave is in the right. Especially mobbing the man outside, what looks like a restaurant. I’m pretty sure, if a genuine fan walked up to him cautiously on their own he’d have no problem signing what ever you had to hand. But if you’re actively tracking the man down, just to sign multiple things I totally get why he’s not signing stuff

I ran into Dave at a CVS in 2015. I’m a huge nirvana fan and he was the reason I started playing drums in the first place. And there he was in the flesh. I was super nervous and contemplated not approaching him because I was shitting my pants, but I couldn’t let that opportunity pass me by. So I nervously went up to him and asked him for a picture, and he said “NO sorry”. I just told him ok “just wanted to say your my favorite drummer” he said “thanks” and shook my hand. I left mortified.
I still think about that day. I see how much everyone perceives him as this ultimate nice guy. But idk I don’t think he is.
But still autograph hounds are scum

I met him at a charity event. Just a nice guy. Got a picture and bbq. That was fun day.

I think his position is supportable. Once you start signing autographs freely, it's going to make those requests multiply as the word gets out that you're an easy touch. It would soon become impossible to go for a casual stroll without being pestered. These autograph hounds find out where you will be on certain days, and show up with the sole intention of getting multiple autographs. If you want any life at all, you have to lay down the law.

I understand him but it also sucks for the genuine fans. It’s not that hard to tell the difference from someone wanting a signature to sell and a genuine fan. Sadly the greedy sellers ruin it for the true fans 😢
