4 most important tips for starting off from a 20 yr trucker....
*Before you buy you better have enough money set aside to cover at least 2 months of operation cost because most of the times, pay checks don't come as fast as you think when you are a owner op.
*Don't EVER use a credit card unless you know for sure that you can pay the balance off at the end of the month. They are really easy to run up and hard to pay off.
---->For the 1st year forget the words home every weekend, home every weekend will cause you to go under real quick!
*Truck gets paid before you do. At the end of the month every operating cost must be paid first, then your personal bills and whats left goes in the bank. In the first year you better be ready to live in the truck until you get a nice just in case amount in the bank.

Sure you can make $200k a year being an owner op but you would be shocked at how little of that $200k you will have left at the end of the year.

The last line hit deep. “Nobody’s gonna work for you like YOU are gonna work for you.”

In the UK you have to have £10, 000 in your business account and have to have an operator license which you have to do a test for before you get you truck for your O license

I believe you need atleast 20k set aside just incase, a turbo blows that’s $12, 000 + plus fuel and regular maintenance. If you go into trucking with nothing you will fail 9 times outa 10 . It takes money

My brother in law borrowed money for everything. Between bills and paying back he is broke that is not the route to go save as much as you can

I figure $100, 000 cash. No way will I borrow. $50, 000 for a truck, $30, 000 maintenance fund and $20, 000 start up costs. No debt. Otherwise no deal.

Need a CDL too. If ya want to drive it that is unless you it's a condo unit and you tag it as an RV. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have worked the numbers over and over again I came up with well my opinion $17, 000 to do what I need to do, , but a man can definitely say he needs $25, 000 to start off in the trucking business, , and possibly a little more like I said just my thinking, , everyone's different on how much they need to save to get into op trucking glad u put this video up, , we have similar views on this topic, ,

I was thinking $40k-$70k, <400k miles, <12k hours for something with 3.5-3.8 gears, 400-500hp, at least a 10 speed, maybe a Cummins, possibly a Pete or KW, but likely a FL. Sound reasonable?

I guess the best answer would be the more money the better, lol
I look at it this way, get rid of all your personal debt. too many times I remember drivers btching about not having enough money and then go on about house payment, car payment, truck payment (pickup), family trailer payment, putting in a pool... payment... child support payment....alimony payment... girlfriend payment :P did I miss anything?? OOOH YEAH living expenses too!
seriously any business is doomed if someone wants to have things change to KEEP the same lifestyle and NOT have to change for a better lifestyle. ;)
but I digress.... have a business plan. put one together, get the numbers and stick to the plan! and always be thinking how you can save more not what toy you can soon get. ;)
I've done my research and the numbers are out there and plan is to pickup a MIGHTY KW ;D not too old and a comfy seat, to enjoy the view down the road as I HAMMER DOWN! ;) 100k is my capital
