Let pen price=x and pencil price=y

Now,
x+y=11 ----(1)
x=y+10
= x-y=10

From equation 1 and 2

x+y=11
x-y=10

2x=21
Pen price x=10.5
Again, from equation (1)
x+y=11
y=11-10.5
Pencil price y=0.5

Let cost of pencil be x
Then cost of pen is x+10
It is given that x+x+10=11
=. 2x+10=11
=. 2x =1
=. x = 1/2= 0.5 rupees
=. x+10 = 10.5
Cost of pencil is 50 paisa
Cost of pen is 10 rupees 50 paisa

According to the question,
Let the cost of pencil be x

Then, price of pen is 10+x

Then, x+(10+x)=11
2x+10=11
2x=1
x=1/2 or 0.5

So price of pen is 10.5 and of pencil is 0.5


Also it would not be 1 and 10 as the difference between these values is 9....so it does not satisfy the eq.

As pen's cost is 10+x, so by the calculations the total amount of pen+pencil is 11 then the cost of pencil will be 0.5 [ 10+x+x=11== 10+2x= 11 == x=0.5], and the cost of pen is 10.5

Total= Re.11
