Field test for compression without a gage. Pick the saw up by the pull cord and the saw should hold against falling away. It will fall while holding but it doesn’t happen fast. Maybe one revolution per 5 secs. Is good compression.

A quicker test for diagnosing what’s going on is to simply put a teaspoon of good fuel directly into the carb throat. If the saw fires up then the engine side is good and the fuel delivery side including the carb is at issue.

My Stihl MS 250 was working fine. Now can't get it to fire except by giving it a shot of starting fluid into the air intake. It then just runs for a couple of seconds till thats burned off. Any suggestions?

9:46 did it just start on full choke?? how did you do it?
