Introducing the all-new Peugeot 308!

Peugeot’s all-new family-friendly hatchback is now available, and Mat’s about to find out whether it can compete with class-leaders like the Volkswagen Golf!

Well for starters, it certainly looks the part! Whether you’re checking out the cool light design around the back or the all-new grille and nose, there’s no denying that the 308 is one good-looking car. It’s also got the cool fang-like daytime running lights which we’ve seen on similar new Peugeot releases.

Take a step inside, and the quality continues! There’s a cool swooping dash and high-quality materials throughout. The steering wheel alignment and digital dial set-up may not suit everyone's taste, but you won’t hear anyone complaining that it’s bland!

There’s a number of petrol, hybrid and Diesel engines to choose from. The range-topper is the 1.6-litre turbo-hybrid, which is good for 225hp! However, they’ll set you back a fair bit. While the entry-level model starts at £24,000, the hybrids start at £33,000!

So what do you think, do we have a true challenger to the Golf on our hands? You’ll have to stick with Mat to see for yourself!

Having seen the new 308 in person, the videos do NOT do it justice. It has so much more presence and style than a video might show you.

out of nowhere Peugeot is becoming my favorite brand in past few years

The petrol flap on our hybrid locks separately as the petrol tank is slightly pressurised and you have to hold the button for 5 seconds. It's to do with crash protection for the tank.

Really impressed with the interior material quality. The new golf feels cheap in comparison. The new golf doesn't even have a felt lined glove box and I'm happy that Peugeot took the time to address the issue of moving the fuse box. Well done to them.

New Peugeots looks absolutely stunning. I own 308 GTi BPS for nearly 5 years now and Never had single issue either! They're not just good looking 🙏👍😃
And thus 308 is definitely better looking than boring Golf 🥱

I've got a 308 GT line 150 bhp 2.0 diesel from 2017.
Brilliant motorway consumption, normal consumption running at 5, 1 L /100kms. Excellent steering with the small staring wheel. Done loads of long trips with fam in it.

I test drove one of these last week (GT petrol) and it blew me away. BTW the touch keys below the center display are programmable, you can assign them to any shortcut you want, very cool.
I have a 2020 Peugeot 308 130hp diesel, and I'm loving the small steering wheel. Once you get used to it, you won't go back, I assure you. The main thing to remember is that - by design - you have to look at the dials above the wheel, not through it. This way you also rest your arms on your thighs, so on long journeys your shoulders won't hurt.

7:57 - That "feature" exists on Vauxhall/Opel cars for at least 15 years and should exist on every car nowadays!

These things look even nicer in person. Looks very aggressive in the GT line spec. The badge looks great! Interior is top notch.

I've had my 308 over 5 years, most reliable car I've had. My issue now is even the most powerful version is 45 bhp down on my current one, and is almost £40k too. Guess I'll be sticking with my trusty steed for a while yet!

Matt, the fuel cap is pressure release due to having hybrid and the extra safety needed when having batteries onboard. No oxygen means no fire. Pretty clever and thought you'd like to know for future reference.

I have a 2016 Peugeot 208 GTI, and have just driven from Manchester to Portsmouth & back.

Averaged 45.5 MPG for the entire journey with cruise set at 77 the whole way (and that includes a bit of rush hour driving, City driving, some B road drives from the M3 and also being stuck in slow traffic for a bit due to road closures on M6)

Peugeot really are making cracking cars the last few years.
