On my 1st playthrough, until halfway, I didn't understand the seals. I was just unga bunga jumping attacks my way through. But the fact that there is even a seal for str builds opens many ways to use spells, it is very nice!

For anyone wondering, the dragon communion seal at +10 with 50 arc and 50 faith has 343 buff. It does great work overall

Just putting in that the godslayer and erdtree seals have the same incant scaling (301) when maxed out, so which one to go with really depends on two main factors: whether or not you're using blackflame incantations (if you are godslayer, if not doesn't matter) and if you're running lower on dragon somber smithing stones or regular ones.

The hidden beauty of the Flame of Frenzy Seal is that is weighs nothing and has no stat requirement, making it perfect for buffs on a non Faith/ Arcane build. That 1.5 pounds can be the difference between Med. Load and fat-rolling.

the Golden Order seal works really well if you are running a mixed spell/incant build, I was doing that for a while pre-SoNaF nerf and the scaling is really high (because the scaling on the weapon was also mostly int and faith)

If you are doing a Strength Faith build, I'd like to suggest the Cinquedea dagger. It scales better with Strength than Dex and gives a 10% bonus to Bestial incantations that stacks with the Clawmark seal. Turns Stone of Gurranq into a really nice distance option.

One thing that isn’t common knowledge is that every catalyst (staff/sacred seal) falls into 3 categories: Frontloaded, Backloaded, and Hybrid.

Frontloaded catalysts see most of their scaling between 40-60. Going past 60 points in faith/intelligence with a frontloaded catalyst is a waste.

Backloaded catalysts (very few in the game) see most of their scaling bewteen 60-80. If you plan on going full caster, grab a backloaded or your extra points aren’t providing much scaling (extra damage). There’s only one backloaded sacred seal in the game, the Erdtree Seal.

Hybrid, such as the Clawmark Seal, split the scaling evenly with faith and strength. Hybrid seals soft caps at 45. Going past 45 in either of the two scaling attributes for a hybrid catalyst is a waste.

There are some very detailed Reddit posts explaining all this and gives the math to prove it.

Long story short, if you don’t want to go past 60, grab a frontloaded. If you DO want to go past 60 and reach 80, grab a backloaded. If you’re using a hybrid catalyst, don’t waste points past 45 for each attribute.

If you're doing a "jack of all trades master of none" style build the frenzy flame seal is the best one. At max its incant scaling is 347 and it scales off of Str, Dex, Int, and Faith. With C scaling in all 4 except Faith which is B.

Dragon communion seal is one of the best all around. You can proc bleed frost decay and madness wayy better than normal.

Personally, I like the Clawmark Seal. Minimal stat requirements (There's literally no class that starts with 4 Strength or less and unless you play Prisoner or Astrologer you're only one to two levels away from 10 Faith), it boosts beast incantations which are mostly pretty solid and since it also has strength scaling it is an excellent choice for Paladin-style hybrid character.

Not to mention, it's super easy to get, since all you need to do is kill one of the many (and usually quite weak) deathroot enemies.

Dragon seal is busted with frenzy burst though..
Don't know if it's a bug or it's the arcane stat, but instant proccing madness is downright funny...

Unless you are on the receiving end, but I've never been insta procd before..

If it is intentional, cool. Just wish they'd make it to where dodging an attack would nullify status buildup. That's where things get cheesy

I bought elden ring and have not updated it, I noticed for the game without updates and patches that none of the seals were in their respective locations. After updating they were then in the locations described. Not even the meteoric staff was in its usual location in the non updated version of the game. Still loved the vid as always and gave me tons of help.

I love the Erdtree seal and abusing frozen lightening spear, its crazy

on a side note, the erdtree seal seems to buff some erdtree incantations only ones I saw a difference was the erdtree heal, which will heal you to full at 2k hp (with other seals it will not) also the crucible incatations the tail, fire breath and shoulder takle, 15% increase from what I've noticed.

I completely forgot about other seals when I finally managed to snag the Dragon Communion Seal and ran with that one so far on my Dragon Priest build. I should try power stancing the Godslayer Seal for a while.
