BMW X7 v Range Rover: ULTIMATE luxury test!

When it comes to luxurious 7-seater SUVs, it doesn’t get much better than the BMW X7 and Range Rover LWB!

The question is - If you’re looking to splash the cash on a high-quality SUV, which should you choose? Well, Mat is here to run you through these two contenders to see which is best!

When it comes to the design, these two are pretty different to each other but still look good from the outside. Not only are they both imposing due to their size, but they both manage to stand out. The Range Rover looks sophisticated from the front to the back, while the BMW X7 looks pretty imposing with an aggressive front end.

Both cars come with a high-quality interior, too. The X7’s cabin is covered in high-quality materials, and this face-lifted edition comes with BMW’s all-new infotainment screen and system - the same one as found in the new iX. It comes with a number of physical buttons, and almost most controls are managed within the screen. The Range Rover also has an all-new infotainment system, coupled with a large infotainment screen on the dash. It has more physical buttons than the BMW, but unfortunately, there are a couple of bits of plastic trim to be found.

Both cars come with various engine options, and the range-topper in both is a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8. However, while the Range Rover can produce 523hp, BMW is slightly up on power, at 530hp.

Finally, we have the price. Naturally, neither car is cheap, but while the BMW X7 range kicks off at £85,000, the Range Rover comes in a fair bit higher, at £107,000! If you want the two cars we have here, they will cost you £116,000 and £127,000 respectively.

I absolutely love BMW engineering.. second to none and only Porsche competes but the brand prestige and pedigree of the Range Rover is the sole reason why I am loyal to the brand. Ordering a full size Range Rover this summer!

your review is spot on. People buy these for the magic carpet ride. I own a x7 and range rover. I will tell you right now, the x7 rides better (if you put on non run flat wheels). It's just as soft as the range rover, but it feels more planted and precise. When you go over bumps your car feels solid like one unit, whereas the range rover, you feel loose, and you hear some rattling that is absolutely unacceptable for a car at this price. Unless you can't become confident until you drive a Range to show your success, get the x7 please. It's a much much better SUV...

When I was looking at buying an SUV (2016 - Pre X7), I discounted the BMW X5 as "too small". I looked at the Range Rover, but found the staff in the dealership rude and ignored you unless you rocked up in a suit or a sports jacket, so I narrowed my decision to a Q7 with almost all options and it is an amazing car. However, I would definitely give the X7 a chance in a similar comparison with a new Q7, as tech and comfort levels look top notch in the X7. But between the RR and the X7, I would also plump for the X7.

Both are beautiful in so many ways. But the BMW digital dials look cheap when it's not flush to the dashboard like the RR. The RR is far nicer in the driver's seat because of how everything is laid out.

Normally I'd take the Range Rover any day of the week but not in that dreary spec... I'd take the Autobiography with the cream interior over any other suv.
