Avoid These 6 Rookie Mistakes When Starting SWTOR in 2025! | SWTOR Guide Series

1) Get crew skills that compliment one another. Get crew skills right away. During travel or quest turn-in, send your crew to do quest skills.
2) If you're grinding story only to unlock that sweet reward, grab every heroic upon arrival to a new planet...often these can transport you directly to or close to the story line quest locations. I typically do the heroic quests as well for gear and experience upgrades.
2a) I also grab at least one story arc per planet to fast travel to a planet once I'm done the main story line
3) If you're a subscriber, create your next character early and park them in a Cantina.
4) Don't spend too much time worrying about your gear, you can complete story line quests and heroics only and you'll end up between level 40 and 50 once the main story line is complete.
5) Get a mount ASAP, save your credits for speeder training first, crew skills second.
6) Crew Skill materials are shared across characters, so while I'm doing a story line only character, I pick gathering crew skills that support my other characters crafting.

Subscribers: Upgrade your fast travel first, my main I also unlock the ship transport. You will get some pretty sweet rewards for log-in bonuses you may not need, you can find them in your material inventory and sell in GTN.

I must be a weirdo or something bc every video about playing the Old Republic seems to be about how to play a Jedi or Sith & I started by playing the trooper. "For the Republic!"

Honestly, I think using the fast travel ability too often is a mistake, especially if you´re new. If you´re on a planet for the first time, go take the taxi! Yes, it´s more time consuming than the fast travel, but it´s so much more immersive. This system, with multiple different "taxi" models ranging from classic speeder to a ride on the back of a Thranta is one of the game´s unique features that sadly got kinda lost with the addons. The rides are short and most of the time don´t take longer than 20 seconds. Flying rapidly over the beautiful landscapes and areas in real time is so much better than a loading screen. Besides that: If you´re new and don´t know every inch of the game yet, you may come across landmarks that you would miss if you didn´t have the perspective of a the taxi ride. It´s one of those MMOs that sometimes rewards curiosity and exploration; and the taxi rides are part of the exploration process.

Best advice i have outside of these would be use the galaxy map for fast travelling. At the end of a story line, getting to your ship early on is quite expensive with fast travel.

Instead open Map(m) and look for the galaxy map in the top left corner.

You can now space travel to the cheap planets of your faction, sometimes saving +1k credit by doing so

I’ve been playing this game since I was a little kid and I’m still playing it. I love it sure the community has dwindled but it’s still a fun game! One of my companions stabbed me in the back and my sith was impressed with it so I kept him as his punishment

I was there without using 'sprint', speeders, quick travel... It took me forever to go to each locations of the map, I only knew to use the speeders that were located through the map but not to mount a speeder... 😂

Like, if the plot isn't to your taste, I get it, but at least try to get yourself wrapped up in it.
