This is an interesting representation of what could’ve happened, but I prefer to go with the theory that the nether fortress belonged to ancient builders and that the wither was created in an experiment, trying to find a path to infinite life (basically Mat pat’s game theory)…

And then some got the Idea to make more and more of them to get Nether Stars but they underestimated their strength, they built deep beneath Earth in the Deep Dark Anchient Cities to flee from the Withers, then suddenly as many of them died because of invading Withers out of their corpse rose a creature fueled with the souls of those who couldn't find rest - The Warden
