I see a lot of people move here and see just as many move away, Here are all the reason why you won't make it just like they didn't make it.

I live in rural Wyoming. Very rural. I stockpile several months of food, wood, dog supplies, etc every winter. This February I couldn't get to the nearest road for over a month. This requires serious planning.

As a guy who was born and raised in Wyoming, if you want to move there, a healthy sense of humor, and humility is a must, and will go a long way to intigrating with the natives.

The greatest draw to Wyoming is the lack of humans there.

Worked pipeline in Wyoming for a year living with my family in a 5th wheel camper. If you don't have a strong mind you will not enjoy the winter!! We love the state and always enjoy telling people about watching the fireworks on the 4th of July wearing winter coats wrapped in blankets!! The reaction we get is priceless!!

I'm a paratrooper vet and a 40 year retiree from the post office in southern California (Orange) I came here and was welcomed with open arms. The people are awesome (I brought NO CA politics here) I couldn't be happier. I'm an outdoor person and I'm up on Casper mountain almost every day. I love the wind, the snow, and everything else. Wyoming is my HOME ❤❤❤

Born and raised in the upper Midwest. The unofficial state motto in a lot of those areas is "30 below keeps the riff raff away."😉

And the snow in Wyoming doesn't melt, it just blows around until it wears out.

Moved here 15 years ago and I’m so glad I did. Not a place for most people. Windy every single day and winters go from September to June but when I go to the mountains and don’t see a single person for a week and get to hunt incredible animals every year it makes everything ok again 😅

This was the realist and most honest commentary on Wyomi that I have ever heard. Thank you brother.

Good video. The honest discussion of challenges is most helpful. Wyoming is one of my favorite places, but I’m one of those odd people who enjoy cold weather and who love the outdoors. For me, the challenge would center around buying land and building a small cabin. I like minimalist, frugal, independent living.

I was born/raised in California; moved to Washington State where I lived for 12 years. Moved to Laramie, Wyoming in 2003 and I love it!! I tell people all you need for the winter is coat(2), boots, hat, and gloves(2). As for the temperature, I told my mom we have 2 temperatures: above freezing and below freezing!

Thanks for being so honest with people moving in to Wyoming. I have been a long haul truck driver going through Wyoming now for over 50 years. Seen it all I guess. Great people in Wyoming and beautiful places and open spaces. Like you said my truck even froze up and had to put it in the shop overnight. Yes it is a challenge living there but it is a great place too.

As long as it keeps out the Californian's; don't need the social blight of San Francisco contaminating any other State.

As a Texas native, I moved here eleven years ago. I love it here, moved here for work and have no regrets. Met my soon to be wife and have a great career. No way in hell I'd want to raise our kids back in Texas.

I'd love to move up there. I fix appliances, build a lot (especially electrical), and I haven't ran into anything requiring me to outsource to a mechanic so far in life. I just kinda crave isolation and want to be left alone. Makes it easier when surrounded by people who want to be left alone.

One additional thing that I would mention: the elevation (especially southeast Wyo). Thin air lacks oxygen and over time it thickens the blood and can cause major health issues if you have circulation or heart problems. I have seen older people come for a visit (especially Laramie 7200ft and Cheyenne 6k ft the highest cities) and have to call an ambulance for altitude sickness or even die because of the elevation. The only other place I can think of that is like that is maybe northern AZ, Flagstaff, etc. and of course Denver. Just something to think about.

My great grandparents came to Wyoming with the building of the Union Pacific RR, while it was still Dakota Territory. I can’t imagine how tough they were to survive that. There were many things that I loved about Wyoming but it wasn’t until I moved to North Carolina for health reasons (still wanted to have my mountains & outdoor life) that I realized how very mentally, emotionally and physically tough one needs to be to live there. This is the most honest video I’ve seen on Wyoming.

I've been to Wyoming several times to hunt pronghorns and mulies and a great deal of what you said is spot on. I've always felt welcome since I embraced Wyoming for what it is. Your examples remind me of some folks from California who moved to the small town of Corona, NM which is near my uncle's ranch. They tried to adapt their old life style to a ranching community and where on the verge of failing when they finally realized that being part of a ranching community means respecting the community for what it is. This means smart grocery shopping, learning to be self sufficient, supporting community events like FFA and 4-H and being a good neighbor. I believe I'd be fine in Wyoming since I grew up with ranching living and all that it entails. Take care.

Coming up on my third anniversary of moving up from TX. I'm making more money than I ever have in my life.
I'm living well and doing great. That said;

-The wind is as described in this video. It will take your heart.
-Brown is accurate. This year there's a lot of green but we've had way above
average precipitation.
-The winters go from September until May. Though it's not winter the temp this morning driving into work
was 42 degrees. Yes. Late May and it's 42.
-If you're a social butterfly you won't do well.
-Most of the time when a family moves up it's the wife that wants to leave after a year or so.
-I have found Wyoming is a lot like small town Texas. Conduct yourself like that
and you'll do fine. I blew about 500.00 on a cookout when I got here with
brisket beer and all the trimmings. I've now got a great bunch of neighbors that
call me "Tex" and are very friendly.

All in all I love it here, and the video is pretty spot on.
