Want to get better at osu?

Have you seen those osu improvement videos where they tell you that you can get good at osu easily using the "10 steps to get good at osu!" or whatever they call it? The ugly truth is, 99% of these videos are straight CAP. Sure, some videos go through useful info like settings or keybinds, but a STRAIGHT UP BEGINNER does not need to optimize their settings like how more experienced players might need. In reality, the only thing you need to do to improve and get good is simply to PLAY MORE. I know this answer will be extremely frustrating to beginners, but it's true. The crucial thing a beginner should focus on is having fun in the game. If you genuinely like playing ANY game for that matter, and you play that game consistently, I can 100% guarantee that you WILL get good eventually. And if anyone strongly disagrees with this, we can 1v1 on mania and I will SMOKE you 😂

I know this paragraph is a bit much but I think it will help a lot of players starting out haha xD

Late to the party and while I agree with the sentiment, there are some things even I think should be mentioned. Like where do y’all get y’all maps from? I know there’s thousands if not hundreds of thousands of maps out there. So I have to download that manually or is there a way to filter for the maps I want and be able to download a couple thousand?

I never bothered with the osu website much I found this one post that had these maps compiled into folders and I’ve been using that for 2 years

what he means is, if your new get all sorts of maps with multiple difficulties then play all the easier ones then progress to the harder ones( so you can play all your 2-3 stars for a good hour session, take a lil break then move on to some harder maps to get a feel for the higher difficulty if its too difficult then dont get discouraged as he said just play more and improvement will come

Uhm, actually- 🤓☝️
The best way to improve isn't playing too much, but playing lesser.
xxboleloxx (Epsilon danner) explained in Saragi's channel that depending on your playtime, for example, you play 3 hours, so you should rest a entire day (remember to destroy yourself without getting carpel tunnel). That's because when you use your muscles too much and you let them rest, they are gonna recover bigger and stronger. It's the same logic as the gym: You give your muscles hardwork and then let them rest for a few days and they become bigger and stronger.

Have you seen those osu improvement videos where they tell you that you can get good at osu easily using the "10 steps to get good at osu!" or whatever they call it? The ugly truth is, 99% of these videos are either ONLY based on the youtubers' experience, or simply straight CAP. All most of these videos talk about is pp and rank, which is the most horrendous advice I can possibly think of. Sure, some videos go through useful info like settings or keybinds, but a STRAIGHT UP BEGINNER does not need to optimize their settings like how more experienced players might need (only exception from this is skins, cuz the default skin is straight whack). In reality, the only thing you need to do to improve and get good is simply to PLAY MORE. I know this answer will be extremely frustrating to beginners because they expect a quick and easy answer, but it's true. The crucial thing a beginner should focus on is having fun in the game. If you genuinely like playing ANY game for that matter, and you play that game consistently, I can 100% guarantee that you WILL get good eventually.
