What this one always appreciated about Don Quixote on his deathbed was how, in some versions of the tale, he understood that all those fantasies and dreams he experienced were not real in the literal sense. But to him, they were still real in his heart, with his spirit and love of adventure. To him, life was the greatest adventure, and by living life to the fullest, with excitement and loving life, he died a happy man.

My favorite story ever. Even this rather sad sadly done movie of it can bring me to tears. Man of La Mancha is as good as it gets.

This is not a sad ending. He went to his Maker and greatest adventure as his true self, a much better ending then the book. I suggest the comic 'The Last Knight' by Will Eisner.

does anyone have the english translation for the Priests dirge beginning at 6:34? My Latin is not very good. it is possibly my favorite part of this musical, even though it is the saddest. 😭
