He was the greatest rival of Yuzuru Hanyu athletes and at the same time was the best friend. And, it was the nice guy of bright personality always positive.

He retired when he had conquered an elegance, a cleanliness of his lines and posture that was such a delight. There are skaters who are brilliant at 15 years old and there are other skaters with great potential who continue improving with each year, Javi is, for me, the one skater where you could delight on seeing him growing and getting better and better and better. If you look at his entire career, all you see is growth and that takes a lot of sacrifice, commitment and determination. I think Javi had the most inspiring career in figure skating, at least for me. What a joy he's brought to many of us. Thank you Javi!

Brian Orser and Tracy Wilson are literally Yuzu's and Javi's parents. They're so cute in the background everytime Javi lands a jump and they're so supportive of their children.

What great coaches, honestly.

I’ve always seen him as a very gentle and mature skater. Should’ve gotten silver here but hey, he aimed merely for a medal and he got it. I wish him good luck for what’s to come and thank you for the joy that he gave us through skating!!!

It's so sad to see him retire. What a glorious skater and a glorious career! Such a hearty performer, in his own right, nobody presently can equal him in terms of charm. Yuzuru and Javier have had the greatest friendship and rivalry. I feel so blessed to have witnessed all the greats. Starting from yuna, mao and virtuemoir in 2010 to yuzuru and patrick in 2014 and now javier. Such legends.

After he narrowly missed the podium in Sochi, it was so great that he won a medal four years later at his last Olympic Games. I was happy for him because he aimed for a medal and he reached his goal. Congratulations, Javi!

You can easily remove all the jumps from this skate and still remain with a brilliant performance, which is a rare thing today. Javi has that specific emotion and artistry that sets him apart from other skaters. His charm and charisma are mesmerizing and you can also feel his connection with the crowd. He's for sure one of my absolute favourites. Bravo!!

What I love about Javi is he always seems to be having fun, no matter what element he's doing. Like he's enjoying the feeling of gliding and using edges and doing footwork. Idk that's just the impression I get :)

I wish people would stop brining certain names when talking about Javi. He's a legend, a hero, an inspiration. Stop referring to him as someone's friend or rival or whatever. He's his own person, and an amazing athlete.

I still wish he'd been second, nothing against Shoma, but I just connected more with his performance and it would've been nice to see a 1-2 for TCC bros too:) But still, it was the podium I wanted, so proud of Javi for winning bronze. Pride of Spain.
