BEFORE YOU COMMENT that Mehmed Ali was from [country x], I deliberately left this part out. The truth is that there are many conflicting claims about his ancestry (Albanian, Turkish, Kurdish, any mix of those three)
It is a topic of debate. The important thing to understand when watching this video is that he was not from Egypt, but an ousider from... somewhere. I'll let the ethnographers duke it out over his personal ancestry.

He wasn’t just popular among the Albanians HE WAS AN ALBANIAN

One important fact you left out is that Mehmed Ali Pasha himself was an Albanian, which is why he was able to quickly gain loyalty of the Albanian troops after Tahir (Thir) Pasha was killed. The life of Muhammad Ali Pasha after he was officially made Wali of Egypt is even more interesting. He tried to develop/modernise Egypt along European lines because he saw that the Ottoman Empire was in decline and also led numerous military campaigns to expand his state.

Forgot to mention that he was Albanian and he took the army from Albania.

There is the main thing forgotten in this video is that Mehmet Ali Pasha was actually Albanian. You missing my thumb up on video for not mention that if the main thing is about this character.

Throughout his rein, Turkish, not Arabic, was the official language of his court. And contemporaries who met him attested that, while he spoke Turkish competently, the only language he was really fluent in was Albanian. Yet his is a remarkable story. That an Albanian, a man from a small nation in what for many is an obscure corner of the Balkans, came to dominate and rule a large swathe of the Middle East, and laid the foundations of the modern Egyptian state.

Why you didn’t mention that he was an Albanian just why

WOW! just WOW, as an Egyptian there is literally no video in our local media produced on that period of our history that compares to the quality and level of detail as this video, heck I'm a history buff and I vaguely know about some of the details you mentioned, and the analysis of the sequence of events is really amazing, sadly in Egypt there is a problem of ignorance and carelessness about our own history

edit: and very cool style, it reminds me of historia civilis

It pisses me off how some Albanians think the Egyptians wouldn’t be anything without them, or that the Egyptians owe them or some shit.
Sure Muhammad Ali was ethnically Albanian but does it really even matter? Catherine the great of Russia was ethnically German yet you don’t see Germans bragging about it and acting like Russians owe them.
And kid you not: I even saw some Albanians say they *cough* “technically conquered Egypt” because of Muhammad Ali pasha gaining power when fun fact: Muhammad Ali exiled some Albanians when he was in power.
Also, if a guy from.. say Denmark becomes ruler of Norway it doesn’t mean Denmark just conquered Norway becuase if that was the case then you could say Austria conquered Germany (Hitler was ethnically Austrian) and Georgia conquered Russia (Stalin was ethnically Georgian)
