I just bought the AirPods 3 and I think they sound pretty good. I particularly like using Spatial Audio for some music tracks and for watching videos and movies. They're really comfortable and don't fall out of my ears. And while they do not have audiophile-quality sound, I find them well-balanced. Bass is plentiful with decent mids and smooth highs. I don't know if it's the Adaptive EQ feature that's playing a part of that sound but so far I'm impressed.

People assume that the 3’s sound better when they haven’t even physically compared them to the pros, the reason the 3’s sound better in the test is because the pros have ear tips so what you hear is limited but if they were in your ears you’d have the opposite effect they would sound better with the sound isolation due to the ear tips

Hi! The difference is quite noticeable, since the previous AirPods have a very closed sound, almost drowned out but that does not bother. The third generation ones are much clearer, there is a little more sparkle in the sounds, both vocal and musical instruments and they are pleasant. It would be very silly in a test like this to buy the previous AirPods "because they will be cheaper" than to buy the new generation ones that, although more expensive, will offer me a better pleasant sound. In my opinion, I believed that the pros have a better bass, but after buying and compared with the EarPods (cable) and the AirPods 2 the pros have notable less bass and less volume.
The sound clarity it’s a bit better, but not the bass and volume. Hope it helps if you’re considering buy it.

Yeah. The 3’s definitely should a lot better and I have both. You would only need the pros If you like eartips or ANC

This is very interesting, thanks! How did you capture the sound of the airpods? I’m very curious about that. / Comparison-wise they sound massively different. The pros sound like lo-fi oriented in comparison, lack of lows and highs, but the 3 sound too over eq’d, very mainstream sound. They have quite a boost on 3-4K and that makes the voices too harsh in my opinion.

Would be great to hear this comparison with the pro 2. One thing I like about the 3rd gen is they sound more open. I'd probably sacrifice noise cancelling for a wider soundstage and more natural sound. That being said, I'm not often in a noisy environment.

The 3 sounded more brighter and hv more treble.
The pro sounded more rounded, bass and hv more soundstage.
For me, I still likes the Pro’s sound production and they hv better ear sealing for better listening experience.

Airpods 3 sounds much better, but it’s not too far from Airpods pro. But since Airpods Pro has ear tips (which i honestly hate) it’s able to insulate the sound inside the ears and also limit outside noise so Airpods pro is a lot more clearer. Since Airpods 3 lacks the sound isolation, you’re not able to experience the best audio quality of it, especially in public. But i’d take Airpods 3 any day since it’s a lot more comfortable. Ear tips in general can barely stay in my ear without making my ears itch
