Review of Ubuntu 13.04 (Raring Ringtail) final release - the most glossy and fastest Unity release of Ubuntu yet.

Ubuntu 13.04 is a vast improvement over its predecessor Ubuntu 12.10, the system is far more stable and runs a lot faster.
A lot of improvements were made to the underlying system to improve responsiveness, reduce memory usage, and improve full screen gaming framerates.

1:01 Unity Improvements
1:45 Mounting Android Phones
2:36 LibreOffice Global Menu & HUD
3:06 Downsides of Ubuntu 13.04
3:52 Pre-installed Applications
4:58 Conclusion

There is also a new touch interface for Tablets and Mobiles, I'm unable to try this feature out though.

Other improvements include: new glossy shutdown / logout menu, new application and window switchers added to Unity bar, LibreOffice menu now integrated into Global Menu and HUD, and ability to mount Android phones in Nautilus.

Support for interim Ubuntu releases is now reduced to 9 months

Great video. Thanks. Was debating whether or not to upgrade from 12.04.2 lts and this video well helped to make my decision. Combined with the fact that Dell has committed the cypress trackpad source into ubunto repos (Dell XPS 13 gen3) and Canonical now supports UEFI booting... i'm looking forward to 13.04.

Great review. Could I install Nemo in 13.04? I really like this fork of Nautilus in Linux Mint.

Nice review! Do you know if it is possible to upgrade from a non-LTS to LTS version of Ubuntu?

Hmm, I liked the styling. I just finished my review/comparison with Windows 8. I choose this over Windows 8 but admittedly the changes seem mainly cosmetic.

My first impression of this, is that it's pretty nice. I am satisfied with this over other Linux/GNU systems.

Would you recommend this for laptop use? I'm worried about battery life. Good review though, definitely upgrading from 12.04 on my desktop.

Make sure you have latest Vbox from the official website and additions also. I noticed this also but then got it working better.

Quid you're so awesome, I wish I had another computer to tweak around with Linux but i just don't have the money and can't afford to mess up my main one which is a early 2013 mac :(.

Hi. First of all, thank you very much for all your videos. Very nice, clear and useful, it hepls a lot. About this 13.04 version, I just wonder why it will be supported only for 9 months, when the older version will be supported 4 more years ?!! That make me really confused, why do they support more the older version ? what's the point of it ? Is the 13.04 version just a kind of test version ? I don't undersantd.

I still can't decide which to install. I am still on Windows and have the LTS and 13.04 on a USB stick ready to dual boot. Just can't make a decision as to which I should use. 13.04 is supposed to be stable and fast, but LTS has longer support and is known to be stable. Thoughts, suggestions? I am a noob so don't know proper procedure when it comes to Linux, upgrade every 6 months? Or stick with stable release for 2 years?
