The balance tilted toward Indonesia for a reason

Most Filipinos are too US-centric, and because of this China should take precautions. It's a waste of time for China to help develop the Philippines, it will only benefit the US in the long run.

Indonesia will do very well with China's support 🎉

Good for Indonesia. You do what’s best for you. Indonesia and The Philippines are brothers!✊ Indonesia has a fascinating history. Just look up the Majapahit Empire and how they defeated the Mongols.

ASEAN countries, except the Philippines, are geared toward friendship with China; only for one obvious reason - economic. And the same countries do not have territorial conflict with China. China is after the West Philippine Sea, an area where huge deposits of oil lie, and bounded by its 9-dash line claim.

This is expected. China has been applying economic coercion to both big and small countries for years. China doesn't hesitate to use its power against Australia, Britain Canada and even Germany. I'm not surprised it is snubbing the Philippines to force the south china sea issue to its favor.

China thought it could control the Philippines. The Philippines has become an unknown variable to China's policy making. If only China respected
the Philippines ' core interests....

For me, nothing, because ever since the world began, Philippines and Indonesia are forever allies even different sides because we are brothers, sharing cultures and good friendship with them so for me Philippines not affected China’s favor to Indonesia because Filipinos and Indonesians loved so much and there is no problem with them and we’re remained allies so for me, it’s a neutral answer 😊😊

This year, Philippines and Indonesia commemorates the 75 Years of Friendship so let’s hope for the future of two countries as a Good Neighbors and One Family 🇵🇭🤝🇮🇩

Every nation does not want to give up its own sovereignty and territory.
Abide with the international law.
Don't bully other small nations.
The Philippines campaign has many supporters and is backed-up with the International law.

What strategic shift? China has always favored Indonesia for a lot of reasons.
China was never really closer to the Philippines than to Indonesia.
China just humored ex-president Duterte.
And centuries ago, China-Indonesia trade exchanges were greater than China- Philippines Trade exchanges.
The China- Philippines Trade hugely favors China. The Philippines suffers a 17B trade deficit to China because China restricts the entry of many Philippine products while the Philippines accepts all kinds of Chinese products.
In 2023, the Philippines, while having an acrimonious dispute with China over the SCS, became the fastest growing economy in the ASEAN+3 countries.
Evidently, the Philippines is doing better despite it standing up against China's thuggery and thievery.

Philippines was colonised by Spanish and American before Japanese attacked them. China has always been cordial with Philippines as trading partners like with other nations in the region. However, it is the government of Philipines’ choice to be closer to American and Japanese.

I personally know Indonesia's president, Jokowi, and advised him already, while still major of Solo, his home town in Central Java, to befriend China. The two countries are both multi ethnic and multi religious with a multitude of languages and cultures as well as a common language and clear cultural common ground. I can only go well in a win win partnership. I expect Indonesia to be among the next BRICS members.

Indonesia leaders are brilliant and fiercely sovereign. They don't have wealth in or are hostage to other other country.

As if China fully trusted Indonesia, I believe China will not forget Indonesia actions in the South China Sea. To our brothers in Indonesia don't trust too much. We have been there, all Chinese promises gone into the air.
