For many decades, the commercial aviation sector has been dominated by Boeing and more recently Airbus. But it looks like a slightly lesser known aeronautics company from Brazil could be coming to take their throne. Gliding into the big player conversations is Embraer with their E2 series of jetliners which Airlines could be trooping for in the near future.
But what is so special about the E2 jetliner series?

Embraer started as a state-owned company, with large investments. When it was privatized, it was capable of generating profits on its own. And it went further: it invested heavily in technology and occupied a large share of the regional jet market. On the other hand, it also invested heavly in young professionals formed at ITA, a famous college on Engeneering, near the Embraer´s main factory. It is one of our greatest pride as a country today.

I am Australia FIFO Worker - We have using a charter Focker 100's - We are Changing to the Embraer on Nov 22nd - Good news on how quiet they are. One big factor was the Short Runway takeoff and landings - As the Mine Airstrip and Building would be $$ To handle the Airbus or Boeing aircraft

I've flown plenty of times in Embraer planes in domestic routes here in Colombia. The aircrafts feel really safe and comfortable.

I am now 74, if I wore a younger man's clothes I would most certainly be working at Embraer designing flying machines of the future especially those designed for the vast majority of people who never flew for economical reasons, go EMBRAER!

When I learned that Boeing's attempt to buy Embraer had failed I became really happy. Embraer belongs to Brazil and it must be like that forever.

I’ve flown a few times with the E2 here in Brazil (Azul airlines) and it’s a delight. Comfortable and silent.

The e190 is very common here in Brazil. I usually prefer flying with Azul for domestic flights just to enjoy those planes. They are incredibly comfortable.

The 175E2 hasn’t been put on hold for unknown reason. The new engines make the aircraft heavier putting it out of the US scope clause. As US regional airlines are the main customers, they are waiting for the review of the scope clause in 2025 to see if changes will be applied to accommodate the E2

Embraer's advantage relative to the competition is that they're not hooked on state subsidies and actually seek efficiency

Glad to hear (8:30) That Royal Jordanian have ordered the new models, I've flown Vienna-Amman-Aqaba with the old models very comfortable and no middle seat!

They won't sell in the U.S. Market because of the "Scope Clause" agreement with the Pilots Union. Right now....the only aircraft currently accepted under that agreement is the Embraer 175. Once you take out the huge U.S. Market....that drastically changes your plans.
