Dark Day for the Russian Air Force -- Four Aircraft Downed Near Klintsy, Bryansk

FOUR aircraft-- two Mi-8 helicopters, one Su-34 and one Su-35 have been confirmed to have been downed near Klintsy, Bryansk, Russia. There is much speculation, but it appears to have been an SAM ambush.

Hey Sucho, there was also a Mi 28 disintegrating in Crimea today. So 5 high value aircraft downed today, so far.

The interesting thing is that the Mi 8 helicopter's automatic flare and chaff system didn't activate when the AA missile went pitbull (turned its own radar seeker on at its terminal attack range and guided itself onto the target)... All four aircraft were shot out of the air and they didn't have a single clue they were being attacked.... If I were a Ruzzian pilot I'd be calling in sick.

Unconfirmed reports suggest a FIFTH target was downed in the last 2 hours, another MI-8.
While it's not certain, it seems likely that if Ukraine or partisans have this capability they're going to continue hitting anything they can in that sector. Why wouldn't they?

The Mi 8 was an electronic warfare version. Very very very serious losses for the VKS.

Agreed. One plane down by friendly fire I can see. But 4? No, that's a demonstration of coordinated anti-air defenses.

SU-35 ? Isn't that their most advanced jet? In any case, 4 aircraft losses on 1 day is big. If Ukraine could do this more often they will have a no flyzone over the front in no time.

Edit: got the numbers mixed up Su-57 is the most advanced Russian jet (altough they only have like 10). But the SU-35 is their most advanced jet confirmed to be on the front I think.
