There is a difference between sex and emotion. And what you point out about men and compartmentalization is true. But when we are lied to trust is broken, and like cracking an egg, it will never be the same. The sexual betrayal is one pain, being lied to is a whole intense agony of itself. I don’t think women can truly forgive their cheating partners. I think woman can ignore it but never truly forgive. Unfortunately, that is why women become resentful and disrespectful towards their partner overtime after an infidelity. And eventually file for divorce.

I come from a long line of traditional women. Every one of them was cheated on but every one of them stayed, out of necessity…they chose to ignore the cheating because they had no choice. every one of them said “as long as he brings the money everything else doesn’t matter” I hear my mother gossiping with her friends about how crappy men are and to get as much money out of the man for waisting their time. These women NEVER got over (forgave) the infidelity and many had affairs themselves….

True. Now, for the self critical women who won’t leave an abusive husband, bed-divorced & haven’t been intimate in years, you should leave, if somehow you can’t, your micro or macro cheating lol, isn’t cheating, the marriage has been dissolved long ago. Leave, or do what you want.
