Grade 2 Braille [2/7] - Numbers, Capital Letters and Italics

preview_player
Показать описание
Braille numbers use the same cells as letters A through J, just with a special "numbers" cell before them. Capital letters and italics are similar. Learn about these special characters that are used in both Grade 1 Uncontracted Braille and Grade 2 Contracted Braille.

(This video applies to braille used in the United States.)

@AlyciaBarras Thanks for the comment. That's what I was hoping for, making braille less intimidating. I am able to read contracted braille, but only by sight, not by touch. I don't teach or have any affiliation with any organizations for the blind. I just enjoyed learning braille and wanted to share that experience with others.

I have no reason in learning Braille other than just being in a museum with some friends one day, and read a Braille sign and blow everyone's mind

can you give like a test..?..thanks for the vid.. i have been having a hard time learning braille.. my interest in braille started when my blind student (she was blind since birth) in a regular class wrote me a letter using the alphabet, and considering that this student has been learning braille since. It was such a big effort for her to write even just one sentence ( she wrote: Thank you teacher for teaching me. I will miss you)..
..then I was inspired to learn braille myself..

If you wanted to capitalize a whole passage until saying otherwise, would you do the same thing as the italics except 3 cap signs instead of 2 in the beginning?

@louellapalomar I don't have any tests for you unfortunately but you can find those on the brl.org website. It's a great resource. You can also find some other helpful links in the description of the video that is last in this series titled Grade 2 Braille [7/7] How to read Braille. Thanks for your comment and thanks for learning Braille. God bless you.

Do you think you might create a UEB version one of these days?

Instead of F6 = f-16, you could use the word Fix. And instead of H8 = height, you could use the word Hate.
