This is pretty cool, and aren't you technically writing in reverse with this and then you flip it

I used to have one of these that was way smaller but I never learned how to use it even though I’m legally blind and a complete Braille user. Like I rely on Braille every day. I think part of the reason they would never talk to me neither did I take a huge interest in learning it is because of all the digital notetaking methods nowadays. But I still think it’s cool in handy so maybe one day😀 sorry I mean talk to me like by a teacher taught

This reminded me of a really really cool invention idea that I had years ago: an e-reader for the blind using electroactive polymers. It would work like a typical kindle-style tablet, but while e-paper displays work by passing electric currents through a special e-ink material to make it shift between black and white, this new device would pass electric currents through a special electroactive material to make it *expand*, creating bumps and ridges that can be physically felt.

It would also have no touchscreen controls, because obviously a blind user should be able to run their fingers over its surface without the device interpreting such actions as taps or swipes.

Fair warning: A TON of R&D work would need to go into testing the viability of the tech and getting it working right. There are plenty of holes in my idea, like the fact that the material will probably need a continuous supply of current (unlike e-paper displays), or the fact that the material will likely try to expand in all directions, not just bulge outward pn the surface of the device.

There is no chance I'll ever manage to bring the product to market myself for a multitude of reasons, so if you do end up wanting to pursue development of such a product, absolutely feel free to do so, just remember to put my name in the credits somewhere or something .

So they take notes in a mirrored fashion? To read in a different direction

That’s really clever. Is there much of a learning curve? I’d imagine finding the proper place to poke your stylus would take a bit of time to learn, but what do I know lol.
