Once LeBron retires or moves somewhere else, I can imagine media will talk less Lakers. Nobody in LA will expect much from AD and whoever is next to him. The Lakers were barely mentioned from 2014-2017.

But Kobe's Lakers were horrible for the last 3-4 seasons of his career..Was that useless? No, we marveled at Kobe's greatness even when he wasn't even good anymore..

Yet LeBron is 37 and arguably a top 5 player, let's marvel at that greatness regardless of team success, just like we did for Kobe and not to mention Jordans wizard years.

Once LeBron retires, I can imagine AD getting traded or demanding to get traded. Can't handle this criticism any longer. Lakers traded Shaq and attempted to trade Pau Gasol. So it doesn't matter if you won them a title.

The reason the media talks Lakers even if say they end up 11th in the West is mainly because of LeBron. I don't recall the media talking much Lakers in Kobe's final 3 seasons. Kobe didn't experience this type of high pressure that LeBron gets.

Seriously though as a Warriors fan living in Houston, I go to every Rockets Warriors game to see my squad. I’m glad I got to see Klay play yesterday after three years. Worth the $$$

I grew up a Lakers fan first dating back to 32 years ago. Would watch them on K-CAL after school. Even during the Lakers' lean years of the 1990s when they didn't win a single chip, the pressure wasn't like it is today.

Imaging being the best 19 year yet ever that's 37 just to have dudes that can't Hoop at all tell the whole world that your season is useless. When jordan played for the Wizards all you heard about is an older MJ that still was able to hang with some of the young guns and show flashes of the old MJ from time to time. Lebron on the other hand is still superior to nearly everyone in the league in year 19 so he doesn't get the hey he's an old man treatment like legends of the past.

Steven A brought up a great point I remember in Kobe's Hall of Fame ceremony with his wife who asked why do you play through all these injuries and pain?.
Then Kobe's response was what if there's a fan out there who never saw me play and this is the first time they are getting to see me play that's why I do it.
That is what drove him not only his dedication and love for the game but the appreciation he has for the fans.
He never cheated the fans if his body was willing than he was willing not a lot of players have that mentality.
You can't teach heart, courage, drive, and the desire to be the best.
