Watch live as a SpaceX Super Heavy booster and Starship launch on its 5th test flight featuring an attempt to catch the returning booster with the launch pad tower chopsticks.

Liftoff on Sunday, October 13, is set for 7:25 a.m. CDT / 8:25 a.m. EDT / 1225 UTC.

The Starship vehicle, equipped with an improved heat shield, should achieve near-orbital velocity on a mission that will take it half way around the world. Starship will then reenter the atmosphere and make a gentle splashdown in the Indian Ocean.

Our live coverage, hosted by Will Robinson-Smith, will begin two hours before launch and is brought to you in partnership with LabPadre.

I watched this purely by accident, it was on the news here in the UK and I thought it might be interesting. I'm so glad I did, it was just astonishing, I actually had a lump in my throat when it sucessfully "landed". I'm just so glad I watched this, I hope you're there for the next one Marcus! What an amazing day.

Unbelievable. I didn’t think it could be done. 233ft tall and 200tons snatched out of the air.

Wow, just wow! I'm old enough that I remember watching the Apollo 11 launch as a kid. I would never believe this if I didn't see it with my own eyes. Incredible feat. I'm still amazed!!!

While Boeing still has no idea how to safely transport astronauts to lower earth orbit and back.

Space X just casually catches en equiv. Saturn 5 1st+2nd stage on their first attempt.

What a company, incredible feat.

This is why many of us love the engineering profession as much as we do. Great things can be achieved. The Moon and Mars are next. Awesome

When I first watched the YouTube clip, I thought it was an AI generated projection of what the starship booster catch would look like, then I realized it was real. I regret not getting the adrenaline rush from watching the whole thing before knowing, but very grateful that SpaceX seems to have achieved the impossible.

Why is nobody saying anything about Gwynne Shotwell. Without her, this would not have happened
