A question I hear from clients all the time working in SEO is, “Brendan, I know you have our SEO taken care of, but we want to run some ads to complement your work. Should we run ads on Google, or use FB ads, or something else?”

But I’m not a paid advertising expert. In this video, I’m pulling in a serious FB ads vs. Google ads expert to see what he thinks about both platforms. I’ll introduce him here in a moment.

Whether it’s Google ads or FB ads, paid advertising is anything but set and forget.

So today, I want to share with you a super-short clip of an interview I did with Bill King, who runs paid search at Drift, one of my favorite SAAS companies. What I love about this clip is that Bill is going to walk through his evaluation of how Google ads and FB ads have stacked up for him.

Here’s how Bill thinks about Google vs FB ads in his role at Drift:

I love how Bill talks about making sure you know HOW your business actually works when it comes to evaluating Google ads versus FB ads as a part of a paid acquisition strategy.

And remember, let me know in the comments below, “What’s worked better for you: Google ads or FB ads? Or a mix of both? Or neither?”

I also really appreciate how Bill talks about a balanced portfolio. In fact, spreading your bets is something Bill is pretty strong on.

A couple things I gotta say... I love your videos, you're quite encouraging to people like me who are trying to get into this space, learning a ton, and feel lost at times.. so thank you for that!

1st thing is about your outro. I've seen this in a couple of your videos but you are transitioning yourself out a tiny bit too soon and we (the viewers) are losing the end of your catch phrase. it's a fade out while the screen slides to your branding but it could use an extra second or so in order to let us hear your full catch phrase before the music starts up. Just my opinion but I figured I'd share.

2nd thing is more a question for you. I haven't gone back to your beginning so forgive me if you explain this in a video at some point. What does your catch phrase mean to you? "...don't get too lost trying to create something that matters." I take this as maybe you are encouraging people not to lose themselves when they are trying to create something important, but it almost seems like you should lose yourself when trying to create something that matters. Personally, that seems like the best place to get lost... when you are trying to create something that actually matters. I don't mean to get philosophical in your comments section but I really am curious what you mean by that catchphrase.

Thanks again for your vids, keep up the good work : )
